Re: Reason rewire session tacking on 70% Ableton CPU

I'm seeing the same thing on a brand new MacBook Pro. The Live CPU meter hovers around 10% at idle, with only one MIDI track. Playing back old songs that worked with an earlier version of Live 9 is totally impossible. Just opening the song file raises the Live CPU meter to 40-50%. Live 9.6 Reason 8.3

Maximize selected window with one key

One of my biggest gripes about the MIDI editor is the need to stretch windows out all over the place to actually see what I'm doing. In Adobe AfterEffects, the "`" (tilde I think?) automagically maximizes whatever window the mouse is currently over. When you're done with your task in the b...

Set the global quantization to any value other than "none" to obtain correctly cut clips.

I just picked up a 49 the other day and so far I'm thoroughly impressed. My only gripe is that I haven't been able to make the loop button work with Live. Everything else maps out the way I want, but when I assign the loop button, it will only turn looping on, and pushing it after that does nothing....

Make longer patterns. 4, 8, and 16 bar loops are common. Once you get 2 bars going, duplicate them and change things up in bar 3 and 4. Then you have your 4 bar loop. Same thing goes for 8 or 16 bar loops. Just keep building and changing things up a bit, even if it's just one sound altered slightly ...

I'm pretty sure you can't freeze from session view, but you could just arm an audio track and record the audio from the MIDI track you want to freeze.

Then just save the MIDI clips as Live clips so you can go back and edit them later.

Make a new audio track, change the input to "resample" and arm the track. Then solo the tracks you want to record.

I think the easiest/best way to relocate session files is within ProTools itself. Under the file menu, there is a "Save Session Copy In..." command, and you will be able to save the session files to another location, and ProTools will change the disc allocation for you. Next time you open ...

Topic: Rewier Live to ProTools - how to send MIDI from PT?

With ReWire you shouldn't need MIDIyoke or anything else to run Live and PT together. Assuming that PT is the ReWire master and Live is the slave, when you make a new MIDI track in PT, you should be able to set the output to Live and choose the instrument you want to play from there. I don't think P...

Can't you just record the output of the MIDI track as an audio track, and then bypass the device on the MIDI track? You could also set the MIDI output to none. if i bounce to another track, i can hear the sound, so to speak. say for instance a given track is using an operator with some plugs and it...

I think he wants to hear the sound, just not take the CPU hit.

I get the same problem, like if I trigger/program a 16th note ride pattern, some of the "tails" get cut off at random. Very annoying.
