Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...

how much do you have invested in that modular? Hmm...that's not something I'm willing to add up for fear my wife might read this thread someday. Modular setups are expensive, yes, but I'm sometimes more of a "process" person than a "results" person, and it works well for me. As ...

Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...

Yes, indeed. I enjoy patching the modular with self-playing patches, recording long passages, and chopping up bits into usable samples in Ableton. It's a lot of fun.

Maschine + Modular + Ableton. I have a Launchpad, but it wasn't connected (I primarily use it for Numerology, not Ableton).

Re: Five12 Numerology...

If you've got any analog gear that handles CV, Numerology kills with Silent Way/Volta and the Launchpad. Absolutely the most fun I've had with my modular synth in quite a long time. There are some great videos on the Numerology site...give them a watch.

I was quoted $499 for the full version @ Guitar Center, but they didn't have any within 50 miles of me.

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]

Got my Maschine this morning. Haven't had much of a chance to play with it, but in the first hour just fiddling around...yeah, this is cool. It's not revolutionary to me (yet), but having been away from hardware drum machines for so long (had a MPC back about 12 years ago), I'm really enjoying worki...

Re: Pre-lineup for Apple iTablet haters

what do either of you know about Apple's internal workings? Not terribly much. However, is there anything that I've said that is untrue? asking him to back up his claim is a bad move? that's just a dumb defensive thing to write. Nah, not defensive. Sometimes I just forget that people come here more...

Re: Pre-lineup for Apple iTablet haters

Obvious difference there is Apple controls the motherboard/logic board more so than Microsoft does, back up this claim. Simple. Windows is expected to run on nearly any combination of modern hardware. OSX only runs on the hardware that Apple has deemed compatible and has included in their own boxes...

Re: What was your best purchase of 2009

The best thing I added to my studio this year was a SM Pro Audio Nano-Patch monitor volume control. Completely passive so it doesn't color the sound noticeably, but with my otherwise in the box setup, it's really really handy to be able to reach over and control the monitor volume without having to ...

Re: Need help with Live + Harrison Mixbus + Jack os X, AARGH!

It seems like maybe you have some incorrect routings in jack. From the Jackpilot App, hit the routing button, then make sure that the following things are paired: Send Ports: Receive Ports: Live-Out1 Ardour-Audio 1/in1 Live-Out2 Ardour-Audio 1/in2 Live-Out3 Ardour-Audio 2/in1 Live-Out4 Ardour-Audio ...

Re: New Mac OSX Daw - Harrison Mixbuss

Yeah, totally over the top. That parts list would be for an exact controller replica of a 16 channel Mixbus setup. ie, 1 pot for each eq, sweep, pan, etc. There's two faders on each strip (1 for limiting, compression, etc). I'll probably just build one with 16 channels, 4 busses, 1 master with only ...

Re: New Mac OSX Daw - Harrison Mixbuss

I just did a bit of quick math to figure out the parts needed to put together a midibox control surface. If I did a 1/1 match of controller/Mixbus feature, I'd be looking at the following order for a 16 channel, 4 bus, 1 master controller: 237 Pots 42 Faders 140 LED's 163 Buttons That thing would be...

Yeah, it just begs for a good control surface. I'm considering another midibox build just for this purpose.

Re: New Mac OSX Daw - Harrison Mixbuss

Re: Louder Product.

No, I don't think so. Mixbus has built in compression, limiting, eq, tape saturation...but so does Live. The musicality of these functions is more of what's in question. Mixbus certainly gives you a different flavor.
