Beatstep as sequencer to kickdrums live?

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to use the Beatstep ext sync to control a channel in Ableton for my live sets - the channel has lots of different kicks in and I want to use it to sequence the rhythm of whatever kick I am playing. I use an APC40 so the kicks are launched from there, but you can'...

Re: Driver Issue with Yosemite and M-Audio

on a related topic, I updated to Yosemite to find that Echo Audio no longer make drivers for this OSX, thus rendering my soundcard unable to work. Thankfully i'd done a time machine backup just before I updated and had to go back to the previous OSX. Will eventually have to get a new soundcard :( Pr...

Re: Pitch bend clip automation bug?

Thanks for this thread. I've just had a hellish evening bouncing down a track and wondering why it was so out of tune, resetting the pitch bends to 0 on two midi channels and wondering why it was still doing it. the pitch bends are at the end of the track and i thought if i opened the project fresh ...

Re: warping changes in BPM in ableton 7 (or 8)

just realised there wasnt enuff detail there. when i say bpm changes i mean like a track at 180 breaking down to 140 then back...not just minor ones you can 'warp' out. i know you can automate the bpm in the master channel when making a track but this wouldnt be suitable, as i have a warping page wi...

Re: leveling tracks for live sets and avoiding clipping

ahhh i see 8O i'll say now that ill be playing 2 tracks at the same time, so how should i compensate (if we say all my tracks are leveled to 0)? I guess i'd turn all of the channel faders down by the same amount but by how much? should i be leveling my tracks to 0, then turning down the faders when ...

Re: leveling tracks for live sets and avoiding clipping

nice one, i'd read that before and its pretty much how I level my tracks now :D however the master still seems to be clipping when 2 tracks are played simultaneously, even though all of my tracks are leveled to 0? What sort of level should i have on my master when playing live? ideally i'd like it t...

leveling tracks for live sets and avoiding clipping

hey people, a quick question here in releation to live sets. i mainly play other peoples tracks and play bits of mine live, got ableton 8, an apc40 and an edirol ua-25 soundcard. i level each track on a blank ableton page except for the sonalksis freeG plugin. while i am warping them, i level them t...

'hiding' devices from midi controller?

OK I recently got an APC and am trying to figure out the best way to do something. Basically, I;ve got 8 tracks, with loads of samples/tunes/hits in each one, and some tracks have different device chains e.g. track 1-4 are mainly other peoples tunes, so ive only got EQ3 & auto filter on them. bu...

Re: Sounds are MISSING from my Mash-UP?

must have been how you rendered it - render it again and make sure all channels you want to hear in the render are activated. then, check through the rendering options to make sure everything is in check :)

Re: BEER + APC40 nightmare

either way its a horrible thing to happen - I've had people spill drinks on my SLR camera when I've been out taking pics at events and it happens so quickly sometimes that there is nothing you can do. thankfully, this has happened twice, and both times on my flashgun which seems to lap up the booze ...

live djing/mashup with ableton and APC

Got my APC yesterday after quite a few months of dithering. its my first midi controller (shocking i know) and I'm not missing trying to mix with my laptop mouse  But, as someone who may have slightly overwhelmed herself by moving up the midi controller ladder too fast, I'd like to ask a few th...

Re: BEER + APC40 nightmare

I saw one of my favourite producers do a set last weekend, and he got 2 beers spilt on his macbook. full pints too! the thing kept on going for his whole set, i got a (blurry) pic of him picking up his laptop on its side and all this liquid gushing out  AFAIK, it died in the greenroom later on ...
