Re: Multitrack Instrument with ReWire

Basically what I want to do is the same as the "Semi-Random Filter Modulation By Sequencer" instructions that you can find on the back of Thor, except that instead of semi-random sequencer notes, I'm controlling the modulation myself with MIDI notes. I'm 75% there- actually discovered you ...

Multitrack Instrument with ReWire

This is pretty setup-specific and kind of complicated, but I figured this was worth a shot. My goal is to play a Reason synth in Live by controlling filter freq with MIDI notes (I want to launch MIDI clips with an APC40 and control filter freq with my keyboard). I'm using the MAX4Live device Externa...

Beat Repeat-Delay Help

I've been trying to emulate a special kind of delay effect I heard being used in a DJ mix by STS9, and though I've been close I can't figure it out 100%. The technique that has gotten me the best results so far involves a combination of multiple beat repeats alternating with simple delays that are a...

Re: how about a nice thick bass kick?

Hi Jonno, You've hit the nail on the head, it's down to the dirty nature of the sample. Good hits to use in tracks if that's the style that you want but they won't respond the best to pitching. If you roll of all of the high end to remove the noise, the kick will become very dull. One thing to cons...

Don't suppose you've made / can make a similar tutorial for layering kicks?!
Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find a tutorial for layering kicks.

Re: how about a nice thick bass kick?

Thanks for the reply, Keith! I've uploaded one of the samples I was working with on Soundcloud if you'd like to give your opinion on it: http://soundcloud.com/jonno128/alesis-hr16a-04-test From pitching it down in Arrangement view (with no other kind of processing), I think I've figured out what exa...

Re: how about a nice thick bass kick?

I've been using the kick layering workflow taught in one of the Quantize Courses video tutorials, and I just came across a phenomenon that I haven't been able to define. With the aid of Spectrum, I noticed that the lower I play a drum sample, the more high-frequency noise in the sample gets created....

Live with Jitter has the potential to offer some unique video editing / VJ'ing options. If you don't like Live's video capabilities, just don't use them.

Re: Ableton live with Reason rewire or Komplete 7

This device is amazing - it's placed after the External Instrument Device and you can map 8 controls per device / instrument - All you need is the Reason or Record MIDI implementation charts found in your Reason / Record Documentation folder. I've saved one of these per reason device, instrument, c...

Re: Ableton live with Reason rewire or Komplete 7

I recently found a M4L Patch that allows you to control Reason instruments within Live, which you may or may not have seen already: http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=54 It works great, except I don't know all of the parameters the 100+ MIDI CC's correspond with. I literally had to figu...

Re: Ableton live with Reason rewire or Komplete 7

Have you had any luck lately? I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result. Let me know how it turns out! Well, my blog post (link) from last year basically sums it up... Well, I'm really to plan on picking up on this not too long from now. Esp. since there have been quite a few updates to M...

Re: Ableton live with Reason rewire or Komplete 7

Can't say I share the semantics but each to his own ;-) While I agree that automation is different in a rewire setup its also what I like about it. Different approaches; different workflows and as such different results. I always try to keep both separated; automations in Reason should be handled i...

Re:

If you want to use it for VSTs only, have to use Automap universal which works on port 3. If you want to use mixer functionality have to use classic Automap -no.40 ( which is more reliable, never had slightest problem). Live prefferences> midi>select remote ports 2 in out. Reason normally uses port...
