Controlling iZotope's Stutter Edit in Ableton with Hot Hand

Hi everybody, I wasn't sure which forum this would best fit in, but Tips & Tricks seems right, since it's kind of a tutorial. I recently picked up a Source Audio Hot Hand USB, which is a ring that you wear on your finger in order to wirelessly control effects using the motion of your hand. It's pret...

Re: A rock cover of Tom Petty. Used the Push for drums and bass.

Thanks napakettu and TheNobleNemesis, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I have discovered that the Push is a great way to play virtual instruments in real-time. I like it much better than a traditional MIDI keyboard. I'll be using it to make many more songs in the future! :D

Radiohead - Paranoid Android - Cover played entirely on Push

I decided to put my skills to the test and do a cover of Paranoid Android by Radiohead using nothing but the Ableton Push. All parts were played in real time (except for the drums, which I sequenced separately). In other words, every note you hear was played live on the Push. No edits afterwards, ex...

Funky Push Jam

I came home from work last night with a funky groove stuck in my head. I pulled out the Ableton Push and started laying down tracks, and finished it up with a guitar solo on my Carvin DC127. This was the first time that I used the Push to record entirely in Arrangement view (not Session view), so th...

Ableton Push + NES VST 1.2 = something vaguely chiptune

So, I have been meaning to dip my toe in the big pool that is "chiptune" music. Here's my first attempt. I whipped this up in about an hour. I used Ableton Push for everything, and all of the instruments (bass, synths, noise) were created using the NES VST 1.2. The acoustic drum kit is from Native I...

Cover, Incubus "The Warmth" used Ableton Push for bass/drums

Hi everybody, This was actually my very first live recording with the Push. I used it to play bass and drums to cover the Incubus song "The Warmth", and I played the guitars and vocals using my guitars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaClN0GiQHo&feature=share&list=PLTNY02Oyp9BJLmXTp_KVpO2HOZGJjdjF3&...

A rock cover of Tom Petty. Used the Push for drums and bass.

Here's one of my first attempts at making music with the Ableton Push. I recorded my own version of Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream", from the album Full Moon Fever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei9trDLR0Go&feature=share&list=PLTNY02Oyp9BJLmXTp_KVpO2HOZGJjdjF3&index=9 I played all of the guitar ...

My first song recorded and produced entirely on the Push!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPBXuXpxwEU&feature=share&list=PLTNY02Oyp9BJLmXTp_KVpO2HOZGJjdjF3&index=2 This is the first song I ever recorded using nothing but the Ableton Push. I recently watched the official Ableton tutorials on producing music using the Push, so I wanted to give it a try. I pla...

Layer clips in parallel on the same track in arrangement

Layering (or overlapping) multiple clips on the same track in the Arrangement view In most of the DAWs I have used over the years (Cakewalk Sonar, Cubase, Reaper), it's possible to have multiple clips in parallel (i.e. overlapping and playing back simultaneously) on the same track. This is great fo...

Does anybody own the Retro Computers pack by Puremagnetik?

Hi everybody, I'm interested in experimenting with recording some chiptune stuff, and this pack from Puremagnetik seems like it might be a good fit. https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/retro-computers/ The description sounds like exactly what I'm looking for - sounds sampled from the sound generation I...

Improvised synth lead solo using Push

Here's my first live improvised solo using the Push. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MBxZqrGd8k&feature=share&list=PLTNY02Oyp9BJLmXTp_KVpO2HOZGJjdjF3&index=1 I created the synth lead sound starting with a basic sine tone, added some distortion, a few velocity-dependent filters with resonance, a side...

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers

In case anybody is interested in how the chromatic note mapping works, I made a little diagram showing how it was set up in the launch video. These are the intervals relative to the lower-left pad. (P1 = root (perfect unison), m2 = minor 2nd, M2 = major 2nd, m3 = minor 3rd, M3 = major 3rd, P4 = perf...

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers

I just wanted to confirm that I'm understanding this correctly. I am primarily interested in using Push as a replacement for a standard MIDI keyboard controller (in note mode). If I understand your explanation, the "pad-to-note" data conversion happens in Live, not in the Push itself. Does that mea...
