Can you tell us exactly which JVM options you would like disabled? Is it just -Xdebug?

The error message is expected behavior, but obviously the crashing isn't. Perhaps you can help us reproduce the crash you had.

The Max preset object does not work with Live's preset mechanism, and never will. It saves data either in a patcher or in its own files. If you are going to manage state via Live then you need to use parameter-aware pattr objects or live.xxx objects.

Exposure of Max for Live is OK with Cycling '74 but you might want to wait for someone from Ableton to say something to this effect too.
