Let's say I suddenly decide to pan a track all the way to the left. I always have to turn down the volume to make it fit.
It would be nice if there was a preference where I can say something like "100% pan = -4dB".

Re: Highlighted clip's automation: points vs selection
And of course, we're tired of ctrl+drag. We want to enter automation values with the computer keyboard.

Highlighted clip's automation: points vs selection
I often click a clip to play it from its start. The clip becomes highlighted. I want to adjust one automation point, but wait, what? I'm not adjusting a point - I'm adjusting the selection, both vertically and horizontally, even though I'm dragging one point! I have to click outside the clip's title...

When auditioning samples in the browser, if you use right arrow, you can replay the currently selected sample. Left arrow will take you to back the folder, regardless of where you're at.
And of course, right arrow also opens closed folders.

Re: Midi Editor "smart" snap-give us an option to turn it off!
Nobody likes this confusing feature. If I want notes to go off grid, I'll hold a modifier key, instead of having an "intelligent" algorithm get in my way. It has admittedly gotten a lot better than the initial mess, but as others have said - it should be an option.

^ Or even just transposing more than one clip at once.
Isotonik Studios have released a great Max for Live plugin that does layered MIDI, but of course I would really prefer not to face the instability and slowness of MfL.

Re: Selecting a New Project Tempo
I often get a very simple beat or melody in my head, and have the "|" key mapped to the "tap" button next to the BPM. Then I either do fine adjustments, or try what it sounds like at a very different tempo. Or I'll be looping small sections of existing pieces of music, and then b...

Double-click in arrangement to create MIDI clips
One of the very first things I did in Live was to double-click an empty clip slot in session view. Why isn't it so in arrangement view as well? It's too bad you either have to record, or select an area and press ctrl+shift+m. Double-clicking in arrangement view would feel much more intuitive, ergono...

I've used it for 10+ years, but never in a live setting. I also think it should be called Ableton.

Re: Why I can't drop a WAV file on an "Audio Track"?
When running Live as administrator, you can't drop files from Windows - you have to do it from Live's browser. Maybe it's the same for OSX too - don't know.
I had this problem too, as I need to run Live as administrator to make Purity VST act properly.

Re: multiple midi editing and inline editing
^ Fantastic! You're a lifesaver! I needed to transpose a whole section of a large project I'm working on. Before you posted, I was ready to enter clips, ctrl+a, hit down arrow, repeat a hundred times, and cry. I sent you a mail with some improvement suggestions, but this is definitely worth the mone...
