Re: Guitar stroke
The problem is you would at least have to change that delay depending on slow or fast strums. Most guitar players have a combination of both with an infinite amount of 'in between' The best is when you play the delay yourself on the keyboard. Hit the bass note first then move up the intervals. It wo...

Re: The DAW is dead
I think one should be able to make music/art any way that works for them. It doesn't have to work for everyone. Diversity is good.

Re: sound card?
PCIe Firewire cards are very inexpensive. I like SIIG cards cause they always use TI chipsets. TI chipsets in Firewire cards are the most stable.

Re: Brainstorming Mackie Pro FX 16 and Ableton
You could get an audio interface with 8 outputs or more and route tracks from that directly to each channel of the Mackie. ie. Output 1 to Channel 1, Output 2 to Channel 2. Then take the output of the Mackie and record that as a stereo pair of channels. However, all this would do is cost more than a...

Re: Bome Midi Translator: Specific Midi Clip launch
You will need to 'hook' the midi clip by midi mapping the clip to a specific note. This will be done just in Ableton. If you want to trigger a note at a specific time why not create a midi track in Ableton and programming the note in. Use the In/Out boxes to route this to the track/s that needs to b...

Re: GUITARISTS.....This is an INSANE video !!!! MUST WATCH!!
He is not using the guitar to trigger midi instruments. The synths you hear are programmed beforehand. He uses Ableton's effects to process the regular guitar signal to make it synth like but it is still just audio.
I like it (being a guitarist) but it is pretty standard stuff.
You can do this too!

Re: Telefunken Echomixer 1961
It is a spring reverb. They can be fun and boingy. Fun effect to just hit the box and hear it go BOINGIGNGINGINGINGING! You will need some DIN connectors or a cable you can bastardize into a 1/4". Look up 5 pin DIN audio for some pinouts. OH and you can overload it to get some tasty overdrive t...

Re: Using a Y Cord to record mono L/R outputs as a single input?
It is perfectly acceptable to record you synth in mono. Most of the stereoness of the synth can be replicated and improved during mixing.

Re: MIDI Keyboard Latency?
You probably are using your built in sound interface I assume. You will want to buy an audio interface. There are many out there. In the meantime download ASIO FOR ALL and use that as your driver. No matter what there will always be some latency but you should be able to get it to where it is playab...

Re: PC to PC with crossover cable or better option
I am old so I would use midi interfaces on each computer connected to each other. Less stuff to tweak. Less stuff to break However, that is not what you asked. The crossover cable will do just fine. It might not sound as good as using an Ethernet switch though... Just kidding there will be no differ...

Re: Recording Vinyl in Stereo
Your guitar cable does not have enough conductors to pass stereo. What are you using to convert the phono signal to line level? You will either need a cable to 'Y' the signal from a single 3 conductor TRS 1/4" connector to two 2 conductor TS 1/4" connectors to plug into two inputs on your ...

Re: My own controller mapping
Not sure if this will work but you can easily try it. Make an audio effect rack. Put one of the effects that you want to control in that rack. Map the macros to the controls in the effect that you want to use with the MIDI controller. Turn on MIDI Map and map the macros to your midi controller. Save...

Re: Kick Layering Help
I would use an instrument rack embedded in a drum rack. Drag an instrument rack to your kick drum in the drum rack. Now you have unlimited channels. I would use simpler's to load samples. This gives you a lot more control in the long run. You could do things with seperate 'output' tracks using a sin...

Re: Few ask about Ableton and cpu...
You need an audio interface. Almost any would be better than what you have. It will help with both sound and processing overhead. A complete computer system is so more than just a set of CPU specifications. It is best not to try to compare systems that way. Especially when they use different archite...
