I actually got it to work on accident but after messing around for a while the tempo slowed down on its own and I couldn't get it back. But yeah, it is possible. I was holding down a single note in Pro-53 and the note was pulsing in sync with the drummer. At the same time, the tempo indicator was ...

That won't work either. I'm wanting to do something like hold down one note and have it "pulse" (modulate volume with LFO) based on the tempo of the song, which changes dynamically. So the only action I could possibly move around by hand would be that initial note-on command.

I'm trying to do things like sync a synth's LFO or VCA to the song's tempo. Or add drum machine on top of the track. The song is already recorded and I don't want to quantize the audio. I want to match the softsynth's behavior to the drums' variable tempo. Can it be done?

Yeah, I tried that and couldn't get it to work. I was hoping if someone worded it differently it might make more sense to me.
