I just went through this with Live 64 10.1.14 on Windows 10... after my second codec pack install, repeated transcodes with Handbrake to various formats and running Live as administrator I gave up.

Installed Reaper, spent a bit of time learning my way around and now I am editing audio with video ...

Are you basing you performance on the Live CPU meter and the same session? If so the i5 and i7 CPUs can be misleading since they can do variable clock speed or speed stepping. This is called Turbo Boost in Apple speak. Basically to save energy they have a variable clock rate that goes up and down ...

I thought MIDI Yoke was Windows only and the IAC Driver was Mac only? Or has one of them been ported to the other OS?

Which one you use would depend on which OS you are using.

Live 5 does not use 2 CPU on Mac OS X machines either. This makes me sad.
