I registered the ableton version and it comes up exactly as I listed above "Ableton Live 8 Lite Akai Edition"

Good call, I have Live Lite 8 Akai Edition (I got from my MPK25). When I log into my Ableton account it says I can straight upgrade to 8 or 8 Suite for right about the same cost as Zzounds.

Whats the difference? Theres no elaboration on what exactly the difference is. Is it the full version? (I would be upgrading from Lite)


I'm close to FINALLY pulling the trigger.

I have an early 13" 2011 MBP 2.3 i5. I got it instead of the air just for upgrading to Live. Honestly, I think I will sell it (the MBP) once the IvyBridge CPU's hit the airs next year. I'm curious though, for the 11" MBA, how many tracks with, say Live's reverb, can you run before it tops out?

I'd like a date of release. After the holidays I want to upgrade from lite. What I don't want to do is fork over a bunch of cash only to have 9 released and then more cash. As a single dad I have only a few vices. I'd like to really work on some music in 2012 and I have to spend wisely.

Thinking more about it..... I hope I don't get zinged by upgrading and then have 9 come out...that'd bum me out. This is a lot of cash for someone who's just an enthusiast and gets maybe 3-5 times a month to work on music....

My copy of Reason is years old...I still use it to make loops and sounds ...

ahh, ok. I don't intend to load up on plugins so given how much more you get, the extra 100 does seem worth it.

I have been using the copy of Ableton Lite that came with my MPK25 (which I LOVE). I think I am sold enough to upgrade to Live 8. My question is what is the biggest difference between Live and Suite? I was under the impression it was just more presets, loops and sounds. None of which I care about ...
