Re: Are Amp Cabinet simulations are just complex EQ shapes?
Actually you are right, why bother if it takes more time? Well, because Im broke and I dont have enough money to buy an cabinet simulation software, so I just emulate an EQ responses manually. And I also like to know how things work, and Im also want to know how to replicate certain sounds using dif...

Are Amp Cabinet simulations are just complex EQ shapes?
Yesterday I copied (using the spectrum) the EQ shape of pink noise that ran through an cabinet sim and I did it just by using two EQ8 instances. And it sounded very similar. Yes of course if you change the mic position on your cab sim software you will have to redo the entire shape of an EQ curve, b...

Guide: How to add a DRY/WET knob to any FX.
Here is how you do it: 1) Create an Effect Rack name it "Dryer" and drop your FX in the chain (wich I recomend you name as "Drop your FX Here" 2) Now create a second chain and name it "NFB" (that stands for negative feedback, google it and see how it is used in modern a...

Done, try it out and tell me if you still notice some doubling effects.

Re: Live Compressor Hidden Feature (Use it as Aux Send/Return)
Allright now i see, i messed a little with the feedback chain, im going to EDIT the original post and edit it one more time to include the correct routing. It seems i doubled the audio stream somewere.

Re: Live Compressor Hidden Feature
Are you sure about buffer latencies? I mean if you put 0 lookahead on a compressor you should have no latencies at all. Or there is something Im not aware of?

Re: Dull sound while bussing through another track.
As 3dot said : Live definately HAS some timing problems with return tracks routing.
If you route any Return Channel to ANY track other then master, you WILL have some timing issues, namely slight but noticable comb filtering.

Live Compressor Hidden Feature (Use it as Aux Send/Return)
Recently i´ve trying to make infinite feedback delay rack. But there is no sends or returns in Audio Efect Racks. So i´ve came up with this little patch idea: Basicaly we are going to use a Compressor as a Aux Return in a rack. 1) Create a Audio Effect Rack and name it "Awesome Delay Rack"...

Dull sound while bussing through another track.
Today i tried to use some side compression on the whole mix trigerred by a kick drum, BUT Im not sure where i did it wrong: 1) I created a new audio track and called it BUS 1 2) I run all the audio tracks through BUS 1 (and here where i got a problem, it started to sound dull) 3) Put a compressor on...

Re: The Little List of Tips and Tricks
Tape saturation: just put a Saturator with a sinoid fold and rise the drive up to about 5dB to 8 dB but not more than 8 dB. Then adjust the dry/wet mix to taste.
Sounds very similar to Izotope Ozone 4 tape saturation.

Re: Mixing a sound with zero dynamic range.
Once you squashed the dynamics out, there is no way to add dynamics other than by automating the volume fader or puting some envelope controlled filters or gates with sidechain triggerring (wich essentially will just reduce or raise the volume). If your ears are pleased with the result you shouldnt ...
