Re: Midi controller weird mapping problem

This could be the result of a fiddly control that keeps sending signals even if you’re not touching it. Or it could just be strange programming of the controller. If it’s fiddly, I usually fiddle all the knobs and sliders a bunch until I find the culprit. Then I fiddle that one a bit extra to hopefu...

Re: Link and Ipad Ready Score Programs

I don’t think that exact thing exists but I can see that it’d be realistically possible to create and would be beneficial to a number of musicians! There Might be a few things I can offer that would allow you to chew on some ideas and perhaps even implement a make-shift option of what you want. But ...

Re: Tempo/bpm in thousdanths

Is this for warping or something? I don’t really foresee this being a major issue. At that degree of tempo difference, there are many ways to accommodate it outside of expecting to type in an exact number and have virtually no consequence. To be sensitive to even the hundredth of a beat per minute d...

Re: Ableton Link does not show any devices. Help!

I have issues with this also. Only time it mostly works is if I connect to my router via a network cable. My iPhone and iPad have no issues wirelessly, just my laptop. I am trying to remember though if I’ve tried it where my phone is a WiFi ‘hotspot’ instead of using my router and maybe had luck wit...

If there’s a WASAPI driver for the built-in sound, try that. Or WDM if that’s available as n option.
Does Live even support WASAPI yet??

Re: Where to ask about MIDI remote scripts

You can ask about scripts that already exist. Some are universal, some are device specific. Some modified by people who found a specific task to exploit. It’s easier to explain your plans than to ask a general question. Also, in most cases it’ll be extremely difficult to request anything beyond what...

Re: Quick Launchpad Mini Advice/Question

For something like this you can probably ‘test’ the concept with a qwerty keyboard. If it works there, you should be able to remap it all to a launchpad. I think launching Scenes associated with all the appropriate changes might work well. Doing a Program Change usually requires at least launching a...

Re: Touch screen monitor recomendation

Live isn’t really ideal for touch, though there are a few rare situations where it can be fun. Also, it’s kind of a Windows commitment thing to a degree. Most software made for Windows just doesn’t have to commit to the idea of touch. And in many cases if it is added, it’s an afterthought and not al...

Re: Keyboard-Shortcut to launch and record in *Session* view?

For myself, I’ve key mapped the Session Record button to my / key. Makes if real convenient. I also like using the brackets to go up and down scenes, with the key next to those used to launch a scene.

Re: "live" with Live

Is this as a tutorial or just a performance?

Performance could probably done on a separate device receiving the audio. Would be more interesting than staring at the screen.

Tutorial might be a little trickier.

It is now an option in Preferences instead of requiring an option.txt file.

Re: Latency midi Keyboard

The latency is not from your usb connection to the computer. The signal from you pressing the key and it going into the computer is relatively fast. What takes time is turning those signals into an instrument sound, and then rendering it so it sounds nice and mixing all the info together to go out a...

Re: Mixing is a pain in the ass (I’ll explain why)

Imma keep it real with you chief, I’m still relatively new to mixing of a higher caliber, and I have no clue what those are When you use audio material within Ableton Live, day one you ought to come to terms what warping is and how it affects your sound. Also know that the Complex modes can color a...

Re: Mixing is a pain in the ass (I’ll explain why)

Do you use Complex or Complex Pro warp algorithms? Those can affect the result of audio clips in a number of ways. Re: What is a synth key?

Just to add to this, don’t overlook what was mentioned above about them being ‘polyphonic’.

Often, but not always, synth Leads might be monophonic. And really cut through the mix or garner lots of attention with their character.
