Re: Song sounds perfect in ableton but exported it sounds bad ):

You’re hopping between two softwares without having an additional reference in either. It’d probably help get a better idea as to whether or not things actually are being affected by doing a few of the following. 1. When you render a file, try opening it back in Live. If it sounds drastically differ...

Re: Warping a full track

I’ve done a lot lot of posts on warping. I am not a fan of the method taught by most videos as it doesn’t really explain how warping works and how to do anything other than specific kinds of tracks. I am feeling lazy at the moment though so you might have to search through my posts. Sorry in advance...

Re: [APC40 mk2] - dilemma between "sends" and "user" modes

If you have any mappings that share the same cc numbers (or note numbers too) as those on your APC, then the APC functions for those controls will be overridden. This means if you have a second midi controller and map it, if some of the controllers on that device are the same cc as a control on your...

Re: Which DAW/peripheral

Make sure you finish some projects. When you are learning, use those fresh perspectives as sketches for possible tracks. You never know when you’ll accidentally make something that really catches you. If you feel you have nothing yet, you don’t even need to aim for a genre necessarily yet. Just push...

Re: Which DAW/peripheral

Decide the direction of what you’d like to learn. When it comes to making music on daws there are a lot of angles of approach. You’re not just learning to play sheet music on piano. A few examples of things to consider as options: -Learning structure. Learn by doing and by observing to get ideas for...

Re: Fast way to Swap slot midi mapping

If your keyboard allows you to change midi channel you can do that to quickly give yourself another set of slots to map to. If there is not midi channel change directly on the keyboard, it may have a preset mapping/management software for editing presets on the controller. Sometimes that gives you t...

Re: MIDI: Filter all notes except the lowest?

A few instruments in Live have this built in with the ‘Priority’ option. Analog and Tension do for example. That may not be too helpful but it’s an easy option.

Otherwise you may have to resort to max for live

Re: Buying a new laptop

I don’t bother with U processors. I don’t know how the hardware is on each of these with regard to the motherboard and cooling design (especially with a gtx graphics card, yikes), but you should be able to compare benchmark tests for the cpus on each computer to get an idea of expected performance.

Re: latency with the multi-function button on looper device?

Single, first tap is instant (well, aside from standard audio latency which has a few factors to consider). It is not acceptable for there to be a delay for the function of the first tap, so it always acts immediately and acts out the process of the first tap no matter what. The second tap, it is ac...

Next time it auto detects your device, set the input and output to None and leave it up there.

Re: Random Muffled Noise

Sometimes if you bump a midi controller while you’re doing something on an armed channel, the midi controlller will abruptly change a control. My guess is the mod wheel. But it could be any control. If a control is in a certain position and you bump it, it can cause that control in the device to jum...

What was generating the sound? An instrument?

Do you have any midi controllers connected to your computer?

Re: Stop global transport from playing automatically

You can load clips into the drum rack instead and trigger them that way.

Or,
You can set Global Quantization to None and the clips will trigger right away. If you want to retain the global setting of 1 Bar, you can go into the clips’ properties and set them all to None for clip launch quantization.

Re: looping audio files?

A few options, none of the options are perfect: 1. If you’re not concerned about which part of the clip loops there is the Follow Action. It’ll simply retrigger a clip or trigger another clip. But it triggers based on increments of bar length with respect to the global tempo. 2. You can use a drum r...
