There are premade universal options out there.
Two which come to mind are:
-selectedtrackcontrol
-midi remote script
It’s at least worth looking at these to understand what kinda works, and how to get it working

Re: So... Live on Linux?
If a Linux version is not identical in UI and functionality to the Win or Mac versions, it is not appropriate for release. People will not be satisfied. It’s not releasable as the ‘Push version on Linux’, that would be a joke.

Re: New user not understanding Ugritone drum plugins
It is probably roughly the same keyboard note layout as a General MIDI Drum Map (wiki it) As for making an arrangement, you need to first make a clip on that channel. Making a clip can depend on if you are in Arrangement View or Session View. Once a clip is made. Double click the clip to get into cl...

Re: Looking for a Drum-Kit
Keep in mind that it’s not just what you have access to but how you use it. Having a good kit to start with can definitely give you less problem solving to have to deal with. So it’s good that you are seeking that out. But even after you have it, getting something meaningful out of it can be the par...

Re: Problem with assinging MIDI CC 11 (Expression) to parameters in Ableton Live
In Live midi preferences, the input for that midi device should have ‘Remote’ turned on in order to map things with that midi device in Live. If that’s not the issue, then I’m surprised it doesn’t work

Re: Seeking Advice on making Live JAMMY
It can be frustrating. You can in theory get lost for hours, months, years, doing more to make it all work a certain way, than making music and having fun. When we are first introduced to Live, we definitely see the surface level potential, and we learn that there is a lot we can dig into beyond tha...

What operating system?
In midi preferences, the Output devices on the list, maybe try turning off the devices you don’t use. Especially Notes.

Re: Help a teacher: track volume infinitely muted
One possibility is that sometimes faders on midi controllers accumulate dust and start behaving unpredictably. This could happen to faders and encoders. If you aren’t using any midi controllers, that rules that out at least.

Midi channel is another possible filter option, but I dunno if that’d do any good.

What are you using as speakers? Is this only happening in Live? Seems strange. Wondering if it’s a hardware or software issue

Re: Change Key of the project with one click?
I actually remember the Figure app from propellerheads had a similar function and it was supremely satisfying to build up an arrangement of note patterns and then see what happens when you start jumping around to different keys. Are the Live native midi devices open to max with regard to their scale...

Re: Change Key of the project with one click?
What’s amusing to me is how this is something a particular group of people desire. And I think it’s a good thing to want. It reminds me of the classic ‘accompaniment’ feature available on most electronic keyboards where it accepts your chord input in the bass region and does auto accompaniment for y...

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
I reviewed Live and played around a bit to get an idea of what you were talking about. The green and blue markers you mention have never been significant for me except as more of reference points. But I can see how their behavior can be extremely frustrating. My only advice is to go to Preferences, ...

Re: Ableton live for DJ sets
I don’t want to destroy your vision, but with regard to connecting to house mixers you might want to be careful not to expect too much advanced connectivity. I think it might be smart to use your own audio interface with 4 ( or more ) outputs and connect that into the mixer, then you can use their m...

Re: use same midi messages for tracking and remote control
If you can do midi loopback, you should be able to do both. Loopback can be done either with software or hardware. It is the same concept of plugging a midi cable to the Out Jack, and back to the In Jack on the same interface. But yeah, software ones are available. Once you have this, your midi data...
