Re: Custom swing percentage

You might need a particular ‘groove’. This can be custom made and saved to the groove pool. It might not be visible, but if you do it right (which might require a bit of research and trial and error), it should do the groove you are looking for. And then after, you can commit that groove to the clip.

Re: Ableton 11 not saving instrument mapping

Mappings aren’t saved with a rack. But if you set the MFT up as a control surface, you can have ‘automatic’ mapping.. but that might be kind of different from what you’re looking for. Still, combining that with a few max devices for heavier mapping, and possibly using more than one control surface (...

Re: Can't fix my midi keyboard latency, feel as though I've tried everything.

Is the latency Only in the recorded midi? Or is there perceived audible latency between when you press a key and when you hear the sound it triggers?

Do you have any plugins on the master that would cause latency? Return channel devices that could cause latency?

Re: Why does ableton constantly delete my stems? And silence my tracks?

With collect and save, Live will create copies of all necessary files (including audio) for that project to run with nothing missing and place them in a project directory. As long as you don’t go digging around in that directory, everything will be there. If you do not collect and save, Live will al...

Re: Tempo change on scene launch not working in Live 11?

Scenes can have properties now. Lots of new functions. Instead of relying on text, it is a bunch of functions.

Re: Live 11: tempo following midi tracks

Some audio interfaces actually do offer virtual audio loopback channels so that you can do these kinds of routing without using up precious hardware in and out. Still, the solution is far from ideal… I am still not entirely sold on the tempo following. Has anyone posted any successful vids, other th...

Re: Live 11 Windows 8.1 & 7

I’ve heard that Win 11 is on the horizon. Anyway, if you’re curious, I would install the demo. If the demo doesn’t work, then that’s your answer. The thing is, 10 is far more optimized for modern hardware, like solid state drives etc. and most current software is designed to work with the current OS...

Re: Maximizing Volume Output

I don’t know a great deal about this. But the first two questions that come to mind for me are whether or not it is Ableton Live specific, or something outside of Live. 1. What exactly are your headphones plugged into? 2. Do you have this problem when using a media player while Live is closed? What ...

Re: When I change the tempo of a sample, why does it become unable to fit the track?

Two things. One, for stretching a clip in Arrangement View, you need to hold a key also, plus be clicking the exact correct part of the clip. I’m not at my computer this second so I don’t recall which part or which key. Second. For changing the tempo via warp markers, your best best is to make sure ...

Re: Replaying a chopped up sample...

It might be worth experimenting with the ‘Slice to new Midi track’ function of Converting Audio to MIDI. This takes a clip you have, and makes an instrument that would automatically be sliced based on chosen parameters. You can choose to slice based on time division, warp markers, or transients. Tra...

Re: Which standard reverb effect for voice recording?

Are you looking for a reverb for recording singing, or a reverb for recordED singing? When recording, it is often times helpful for a vocalist to have a reverb as a kind of instant feedback of their voice. So they’re not singing in a vacuum. Do whatever it takes to get the job done nicely. But once ...

Re: Custom scale for Operator.

If it’s a scale that repeats harmonic relationships per octave, you can use the Scale tool in an instrument rack to reduce the number of required instances of Operator. If it’s only 7 tones per octave you only need a few. But if it’s 11, you’d need more. Anything beyond that would require more than ...

Re: Synth as a midi keyboard question

In a channel, you can designate midi input and output.

If you have something else triggering drums, you can select only that specific midi device from the dropdown for what it receives notes from.

Re: Help mw. Warping songs changes kick volume

Complex and Complex Pro can do some weird things to the EQ and amplitude of the resulting sound. It’s meant to retain pitch of a sample while time stretching it with some formant options. Unfortunately, doing this and maintaining a smooth character which is great for psychoacoustics also results in ...

Re: Deleting Plugins

My directories are arranged exactly for this kind of situation. Basically, Live lets you link a single folder, but it does allow for ‘shortcuts’ instead of the actual vst file. So I have one directory with shortcuts to exert plugin that I have. I could use that directly for Live.... but instead I ha...
