Re: Bug in Follow Actions
Hm. Having this problem with 8.1.1, with a twist: The "next" action works fine when it's supposed to switch at the beginning of a bar, but let's say I want to have the follow action hit mid-bar (4.2.0) for example. It seems to sort of randomize; it'll switch clips at bar 5, or in the middl...

It's Christmas In This Bitch
Good for a chuckle. Wrote and recorded this in about four sloppy-drunk hours (Maybe it shows. 8)) I felt like bringing some music to this Christmas party. Enlisted everyone who happened to be in the house the house to do some shit/kick a verse/sing backup. I love Ableton sometimes. It's Christmas In...

Re: Getting rid of plugins
Hmm. Perhaps a wipe and reinstall? I haven't done it yet, it sounds like a headache. And it's not like this is really stopping me working on anything, it's just....infuriating. Oh, and it's still showing listings for plugins that don't even exist on the computer any more, so I'm not sure the ...

Re: Getting rid of plugins
Excellent pre-emptive measure... I can't seem to find where the information about these things is stored. I was cleaning house and got rid of some stuff, and now Audacity won't even start (i get a few "VPA plugin rejected VPA host" messages, presumably related to this T-Racks demo I instal...

Re: The Little List of Tips and Tricks
One more! Maybe it's an obvious trick, but I've seen a lot of people grousing about the sync issues so this might be a useful one. I've been stumbling around this particular beast for a while with a set of inelegant fixes, and I could never quite be sure whether things were out of line or whether I'...

Getting rid of plugins
There are a bunch of plugin demos, expired crap and stuff i don't use any more. There are listings in my plugin browser for things that aren't installed any more, and if I accidentally double-click on one (like the old Guru or Battery demos that have expired) it will crash Live. The manual says alt+...

Re: putting more than 1 compressor on the master tk?
i find that doubling up can sometimes minimize the negative side effects of heavy digital compresson (like distortion) when you're trying to make a really loud mix. on a somewhat-unrelated topic, but i've been getting good results using a mastering rack that goes saturator-->multiband comp-->limiter...

Re: BCR2000 buttons with LED feedback
This is a funny thing. I've been searching all over the place and can't seem to find the information i need; if anyone can remember if/where this has been posted before it would help a hell of a lot. I'm looking for information about what MIDI messages Live actually responds to, because it's not as ...

Oh, and I see that this was covered a while back (v.5?) but had thought maybe some new shit had come to light.

Ugly Rewire Latency issues.
So I run Ableton with Reason as slave; I have a bunch of combinators connected to Reason's hardware interface and those run into separate tracks in Live for mix automation, etc. Nice. But when I'm approaching the end of a project (which tends to be dictated by system resources; I've got a 2.4ghz dua...

Re: Korg nanoKONTROL
I have been having some terrible thoughts about my nano... I've been wanting to build my own live controller for some time. The korg is okay (i only use one scene because of the issues discussed herein; it's mapped well and it performs great) but it's awful cheap-feeling, it's actually a little too ...

Re: The Little List of Tips and Tricks
Cool thing I've started doing to keep my head straight in live performance: I use a basic 4-channel setup with 1 and 2 running to a single bus channel and 3 and 4 running to another. (For dummy clips.) Crossfader switches between the 2 busses. But there are effects I use on channels whose state I wi...

Nanokontrol editor is dope. Who else does it like that?
So I use a nanokontrol and mpd16 for live performance. Works great, no problems. One of the sweetest things about the nanokontrol editor software is that you can apply envelopes to buttons that are mapped to CCs, which is awesome for feeding delays and other effects where you want a several-millisec...
