Re: Where to get pink noise?
it's better if you get a synth that makes pink noise. some analog emulations have noise generators, or presets for that. z3ta+2 comes to my mind, or NI monark I think has it too. just don't use samples. and btw, I don't know why pink noise is great for mixing. sure, it can be used subtly in order to...

Re: MacBook - Use without Audiointerface
Is it possible to use the internal audio of the MacBook for this purpose or are there any restrictions? For mixing, I guess so. Audio through your audio interface will always be better (day and night sometimes compared to the a/d converter on your macbook). But if you want to mix on the road, its ok...

Re: Soft synths?????
I believe your best bet is to buy Ableton Standard (you get all the mastering and creative effects) + Native instruments Komplete ELEMENTS ($49 bucks, you get a pair of nice softsynths like spark and carbon2 and nice samples) + u-he zebra ($199, the swiss army knife of softsynths, you can get almost...

Re: How is this Desktop for my home studio??
Don't pick the AMD A8 CPU, or any AMD A"something" processor, they are made for other purposes because of the integrated graphics and are not developed to deliver pure processing power. Right now, your best bet is to make your own PC with an Intel processor, they are leading the game in te...

Re: F@&£Ing volume!!!!
Yeah, I been there. Somehow, when you mix in ableton and hear the master, let's say, the volume is 5/10. However, when you export, even if you dont move any volume control in your interface or computer, the file volume is 3/10. I still don't know why that happens. but i do know that when you are lis...

Re: Drum layering in Live - best methods + workflow?
we need a plugin with an explicit user interface, just like the picture above, but closed in a cell that we can trigger like a sample. maybe an update to native instruments battery cells, so we can layer drums. i just put one on top of another... one for the transient, another for the release, or wh...

I hope never.
crippled, slow, useless pieces of browser-based software, wasting developer resources at a company that could better invest on fixing the actual desktop app and add new features, imho.

Re: Logic Pro X is out.
i don't know. i've heard the demos and the analog synth and synth drum machine sounds like crap, not even near to monark or diva. the grand piano is 5/10 to me. maybe they used the wrong demos on the website (they are mp3 files!) however, its nice that they are including all those synths, sampled dr...

Re: Random Access Memories
i hate how everyone is talking about how they re-defined EDM, how they got back to basics, etc, etc... even they on (now several) recent interviews are talking about that. but no one is talking about the music itself. The melodies, how good they are, the feeling, the harmonics... IMO, there are not ...

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?
The thing is: are you talented enough? I mean, really, are you? You need to ask yourself that before doing anything. And what I mean here is that you really need to be honest with yourself and think: am I talented enough? Compare with others, the music industry and the music scene nearby, that does ...
