Re: Playback latency

I was demoing Live 10 and can not believe this is STILL an issue.. Will never update my live 9. I do not understand how people tolerate this.. Obviously it was worked out long ago what the issue is in this topic, but just to reiterate, Live can not sync it's playback cursor with the visual placement...

Re: Any Improvements In The Audio Engine Of Ableton Live 10?

3) How can my examples come off misguiding when i copied and pasted from ableton's own webpage? That'll be your presentation and maybe some of the following conclusions. I didn't mean everything was wrong or something like that. If I understand you correctly you're not using Live currently, though ...

Re: Any Improvements In The Audio Engine Of Ableton Live 10?

1) That's all i wanted to know, if live 10 fixed it. That makes it worth upgrading to me. I never said live 10 didn't, i was asking if it did. As far as it is now in 9, it's very difficult to enjoy audio editing when using latent plugins. 2) I misunderstood the entire thing.. i thought send/return b...

Re: Any Improvements In The Audio Engine Of Ableton Live 10?

Would very much like to know if PDC has been improved in Live 10 also. If not, for me there's no reason to UPG. I just want it to be equal to daw's like cubase or S1 in that regards. What still needs fixing, and i am just copying this directly from ableton's own PDC info page that i searched 2 minut...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

1. All PDC Algorithms need to add delay on other tracks to compensate for a new plugin that has a plugin delay. Nothing wrong with that. 2. Phasing problems related to PDC in live are not causing typical phaser sound artifacts but have the LFO FXs out of sync - which is the same like an LFO phase a...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

Could be a bug with the waves plugin in bitwig specifically, and i don't think they support bitwig anyway. Unless you meant live, indeed it is then weird. i just tried to reproduce it and couldn't. Once plugin is deleted, latency is gone. However in the wacky and wonderful world of computers, someti...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

Well, I'm not the foremost expert, but there are latency issues with live that I can only assume are related. If I put something that introduces latency ANYWHERE in live, I get.......latency. For example, when demoing that abby roads fake stereo thing (yeah, I could have just looked it up) I got fu...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

No it makes sense, Logic gets around this by having a lower internal buffer for record armed tracks than their PDC allows for unarmed tracks. So you get a lower latency on tracks you're recording into. Pre-rendering does the same thing in DP8, in that unless I'm throwing heavy mastering plug ins on...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

It's a big difference yes, granted, but bitwig's pdc sucks. I am NOT saying this to have another anti bitwig rant, promise, but honestly besides ableton i couldn't think of a worse implemented method. The low latency monitoring is a MASSIVE thing. Put an effect in bitwig on track 2 with latency, not...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

My guess is if Bitwig actually gets it right in an update, instead of partially right like it is now, then Ableton will divert resources to the problem. I think it's obvious that it's more time consuming than most people think to write it in, otherwise it would have happened by now. It's been an is...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

FWIW, to fix automation timing with PDC, live does not need a rewrite. A rewrite is only needed if they want to fix the playhead being in time with very latent effects. They need to *add* code to tell the automation to shift by the track latency. The rewrite thing is just a myth. They could *add* a ...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

Out of curiosity - does anyone have a *audio* comparison that represents this issue they can post? I know it's a real issue, I'm not debating that at all. I've seen plenty of evidence like screenshots showing misaligned waves, etc. There is definitely something wrong in Live here. What I'd like to ...

Re: What is your honest feel on our chances to have PDC fixed?

Ok.. peace.. what i was trying to ascertain, if there was a point where now that bitwig is out, that people think ableton might take it seriously, and if they don't do it in V10, will people leave. This is actually useful infos even for ableton. The topic is different from others cause it's not real...
