Focusrite Saffire LE should fit your bill. Compared to the original Saffire its fifty bucks cheaper at $249 and has two more inputs although it lacks the hardware DSP and has 6 outputs instead of 8.

I don't believe I'm actually going to post this but what the hell? Circa 1988: me a four-track, a case of beer and 0, null, nil guitar skills.

I think another sticking point is 'working without boundaries'. I was trying to write something last night, in a similar vein to Photek's 'Form and Function' album (I love the drum sounds on there). It started out ok, but then I slipped into the habit of trying out too many synths and trying to mak...

" This has been spurred on by a thread on the Reaktor forum about "Do we have too much choice?". This is a very good point actually. I feel there is so much choice you tend to overload on synths and effects. I am certainly guilty of this. One thing I decided early this year was to st...

This happens to me all the time: I tend to get a good bit going; verse, chorus, theme, something and then find myself sitting there thinking, "Well, that's a great 8-bar loop, now what?" It often seems like anything I come up with to follow it on sounds contrived or "not as good"...

+1 for 'Spook Country' and it's predecessor, 'Pattern Recognition' is excellent as well.

I'm using a Saffire LE (4-in, 6-out, no DSP) on a desktop and it's been great. The mic pres are very nice.

I imagine that just using the application as you normally would on your particular combination of computer, operating system, interface, and controllers is helpful. At this late stage in a beta test most of the real bad bugs have been squashed already. By expanding the beta circle Ableton get their ...

Any SH-201 Owners?

I'm shopping for a new synth and settled on the SH-201 as it meets my needs based on specs and the sound examples I've heard. I'm planning a visit to my local shop to try it out before I buy. There's one thing reading, listening and fiddling in the shop don't tell you though: now that you've owned i...

I run a system with nearly the same specs (except I don't use an Audiophile) and I get a lot more tracks than that with a buffer setting of 256. So, no, you're not maxed out. You may be having a configuration or hardware incompatibility problem. Many times with firewire cards the problem is with an ...

I played keys in a prog rock band in a previous life. At one gig we were playing Tom Sawyer (yeah yeah.. I know, but it was the 80s so it's ok :D ) . Anyway we reached that magical keyboard solo moment in the middle and I somehow hit the wrong patch button on my Jupiter 6. So, instead of getting the...
