Re: Advice needed on PC/system upgrade
I've noticed a marked price drop in SSDs over the last 6 months so that's why I've started to consider them as an option. If I can only afford one drive should I make a fresh install for my PC OS/app drive or use it as an external drive (I would get a USB3 caddy) for sharing samples/projects between...

Re: Advice needed on PC/system upgrade
I should add that I ran out of space on my laptop HD so I got a 500GB external HD which I have some Kontakt and other libraries on. Its a USB3 drive but my laptop only has USB2 ports and I fing that it's quite slow in opening up some of the Kontakt patches.

Advice needed on PC/system upgrade
I currently have a stock HP laptop running 32 bit Windows 7, 3 GB ram. Ableton 9 runs OK on this but my VSTi and audio track count is somewhat limited. I also have a PC with a quite old intel Quad core 2.4 Ghz, 8 GB RAM FSB1333, running 64 bit Windows 7. I currently use the laptop for production but...

Re: Tracks being too loud or too quiet when mixing in Ableton.
Apart from decreasing or increasing the volumes... I'm sorry but I don't understand why you don't wish to use the volumes to mix. Its essential to do so! If you are talking about dynamic changes in volume throughout a track then you should use the Utility plugin to automatic the gain which leaves y...

new clip on track without disturbing predrawn automation
I'm working on a track and have a 1 bar clip extended out and looping over 32 bars with automation draw in over the course of the clip. Now however I wish to go in and edit/delete some of the hits but I want to keep the automation lines. I've found using Copy or Duplicate overwrites the automation. ...

[quote="triss"]I actually find transpose in the clips good enough fro rises etc. quote]
Ahhh yes! I should have thought about that - consolodate all the samples over 32 bars into one big clip and then simply draw in the transpose in clip view.
Excellent - I'll try this later. Thanks.

Re: automating pitch
I have seen some video tutorials of Melodyne. I'm not sure its the best tool to achieve what I want. I'll try and explain it better: I want to alter the pitch of any sample (vocal or stab sounds in particular) over 32 bars for example so its rising/falling with a big reverb on it so it sounds like i...

Remixing with mono files
I am beginning work on a remix project and have been sent LEFT and RIGHT mono files for each part. For some of the parts (especially vocals) I want to merge the left and right files into a single stereo file for ease of editing. I use Adobe Audition as my wav editor but could not find an option to m...

automating pitch
How do I automate the pitch in Ableton for just one of the audio elements in my track e.g. a vocal sample that I want to raise in pitch over time. I was thinking of automating the sample tranpose function but I don't think this will be accurate enough. Should I be looking at VST's to achieve this ef...

why should I get a macbook pro?
OK dudes, I've never owed a mac. I have a PC based studio and have always been PC based cos I could build them up myself. Now however, I am going to need a portable solution so that I can play live with Ableton. The question is why should I go for a macbook which are starting at around 700 on ebay w...
