how to sound like brood audio?
I'd like my music to sound a little more like Brood Audio. Is anyone familiar with this label? It's darker techno. Any advice would be welcome. ****please no post about how it's important to sound original, do your own thing, etc. i don't want to sound exactly like them. i'm just curious how this so...

looking for specific effects to smooth out my workflow
when i'm making a track, i keep track of the peak frequency of each sound, then i arrange my sounds by frequency, left to right, from lowest to highest. i label each sound by frequency also. after that i make little notch eqs in each sound so that the sound just higher and just lower than it fits in...

techno mixing?
what's the best place to learn more about the mixdown process for techno in ableton? i've watched quite a few youtube vids, but was wondering if there were any amazing ones i'd missed or some other source worth looking at.

ableton suite tools/synths vs. external vsts
Several years ago, my friend Randy and I were buying VSTs left and right. There were a few issues with that approach: -we never got a solid understanding of any VST because we were too busy being gearwhores -whenever we got a new computer and transferred songs, we'd have to install ALL those VSTs Si...

how to make good drum noises
i make techno. i'd like to know what most of you use for drum noises? and what sort of processing do you put them through? i can never get my drum noises to sound that great, but it may be because i just use the default stuff in live and process them a bunch. i'm starting to think that better sample...

Re: volume dropoff when djing with live
i appreciate the response, but raising/lowering each track individually seems tedious compared to traktor automatically doing it for you.

volume dropoff when djing with live
i recently switched from traktor to ableton for djing. when i used to dj in traktor, the volume seems like it would always stay at a pretty constant level, regardless of whether i was playing 1, 2, or 3 tracks at once. i know that traktor had some sort of makeup gain feature, but i wasn't exactly su...
