The main advantage of the LP has always been the 8 rows at one glance, for less than 8 rows the APC40 is much better.

In Windows, go to the Device Manager -> USB Controller -> (right click) Properties-> Power Management

Uncheck the box that allows PM to turn off a USB port in order to save power.

You also could check System -> Power Management -> extended

Seems like most people at least on here have a i5 or i7 processor combined with 8 GB RAM in their laptops for using ableton.As i'm planning to buy a (used) dedicated Laptop just for making music and money is tight i was wondering if i have to give up my initial plan to buy a >2 GHZ C2D 4GB RAM machi...

Also, what about the Novation Zero SL II ? I think the Faders and knobs respectively fit exactly the dimensions of the launchpad which means you could place the Zero SL neatly under the LP and have each track nicely with the corresponding controls in sight.

Don't forget the FAD9 only has 1 button per track vs. the Nanokontrol which has 3 which means with the latter it's a whole lot easier to turn on/off Mute, Solo etc.
