Re: insane activation policy

I agree with everyone else here saying that you've got a simple solution in front of you. The free trial is the full software for 30 days, then afterwards everything except save & export. Super awesome, liberal policy. And for us paid users, it's more of the same. I have needed more unlocks many...

Re: ableton your simpler/sampler is worthless

Okay first of all dude, chill out. Now, if you're getting bad sound quality, I understand why you're frustrated. That can be a very real issue with Live. I got really mad about it too when I began using it. But understand, Live is not an MPC. And here's the thing: after I learned more about Live I f...

Re: If Live 9 doesn't deliver...

In about 4 weeks it will have been half a year since we saw a new Version of Live 8. Either they are having some crazy bug problems with the 8.2.2 betas or they are working on Live 9. My bet is on the latter.

Re: Advice on choosing a microphone

Well you don't want a specific Mic. recommendation, but I'm going to give you one anyway: M-Audio's Sputnik, hands down....if you can afford it. Otherwise, here's how you do it... Step 1 is to identify what you will be recording most often, or what thing you will be recording is most important to yo...

Re: high pitched humming noise

I know it's a pain, but try moving your set up and plug everything into different outlets on different walls. I bet your problem won't exist on at least one of them. Solution? Permanently move everything, or buy a power conditioner. Try using a surge protector if you have one laying around. Basicall...

Re: Eh, new beta?

Whatever it is, it is definitely strange.

What happened to Ableton? lol

Maybe they had a massive party for New Years and drank a little bit too much.

Or maybe they got sucked into the Reality Distortion Field.

These are the questions that must be answered.

Re: Presonus Faderport?

While I don't have anything to add in regards to a solution to the Faderport problem (I don't own one, although I am interested in it).....as far as PreSonus support goes, sadly, I have to say that your experience is not unusual. They can be very unhelpful. PreSonus is a company that makes excellent...

Re: small value shifting when creating automation points

I have that problem too. Annoying, huh? There needs to be some kind of optional snap grid. Sort of like drawing in CAD programs.

Btw, am I the only one who hates how you have to be careful to copy your text before you post? I wrote a really lengthy response and when I posted, it asked me to log in again. It sent me back to the writing window, I clicked post and it acted like everything was cool. Except somehow all of the text...

Re: just looking for a second opinion

Less is more. I believe in this. I like the genre. Pitch needs to be corrected in the final take. Record as much vocal tracks as you can and then mix/cut/assemble them to perfection to avoid using autotune like fx which I dislike. Sonically the song 'triggers' emotions, at least for me good vibes. ...

Re: just looking for a second opinion

We'll likely re-record everything. It was a rough take, which is something I always do to get a feel for what I want the track to be before I tell an artist to give it their all. Hopefully I don't need to explain the logic behind that. Again, basically what I'm looking for is ideas for how to make a...

just looking for a second opinion

I'm working on an artist's acoustic project right now and I was looking for second opinions about the style of the mix for a particular song. It is MEANT to be simple. Organic. Fluid. Natural. ...etc. Nothing too fancy. This isn't a busy mainstream mix heavily slammed with compression. This is like ...

Re: time of a song in thed arrangement view

All you need to do is turn off warping. Warping is a cool feature of Live that is useful in a lot of situations, but it changes how the time of clips is displayed into "beats". If all you need is to play the clip, straight-forward and nothing fancy, just double-click on the clip to go to i...

Re: What's a decent enough condenser mic for home recording...?

The AKG Perception series all the way, man. That's what I started out with. I still have my 200, the thing is built like a brick (not in the bad sense), and I still use it occasionally for certain things that it shines on, like acoustic guitar and male vicals. The newer 400s are even better.
