Re: Playing live on a big system: Worried about my mixes
Club sound is indeed a tricky one to predict and you may very well be entirely at the mercy of their setup and their under-the-influence-soundman... no matter how hard you prep. For any decent club with a good PA worth its salt, everything starts with: 1) a tech spec from the venue. 2) a tech rider ...

Re: bass guitar signal chain making making buzz?
Just use an Active DI, preferably with an 'earth lift' switch. That should get rid of your buzz (and radio interference too).

Re: Audio over Wifi
In theory, yes... if you're on a mac, look into AUNetSend and AUNetReceive. In practice: latency, sync and compression issues make it very hard to accomplish good results.

Re: Recommend me a GREAT live mic
Clarification: I'm recording at live band shows in a small space. The band is performing for an audience, and I'm recording off of the sound board. When I use my condensers, I tend to get a lot of feedback. I'm usually micing every instrument / vocalist. Are you recording each channel individually ...

Re: Recommend me a GREAT live mic
In a live situation things can of course vary depending on the quality of the monitors and mics (slightly), but I struggle to see how shelling out $1400 on any mic will give you proportionate improvements, when clearly small space and use of wedges are the main culprits here. You could probably make...

Re: Recommend me a GREAT live mic
If you can use in-ear monitors you'd get rid of the feedback issue and use your condenser... You might even find a significant improvement from your SM58.

Re: Controlling LED lighting with a USB-DMX interface (NOT Midi)
The proper way of doing this is using a dedicated lighting software to program the lighting and sending midi values to the lighting software from Ableton. I use Chamsys MagicQ, which is free and will work with the Enttec box, but if you're new to lighting, the learning curve might be a little steep....

Re: Midi Controlled Lighting
Excellent work.
I would definitely be interested in the How-to and code. Would you be able to use DMX instead of midi?

Worst. Advice. Evarr.XSIMan wrote:Compressor and a saturator is all you need. There are far better thirdparty plugins for this such as Soundtoys Radiator and DMG Audio Compassion.

to me it sounds more like there's a problem with the internal sound card.

Sharing ONE controller between Live and Logic
I run a setup where I use Live and Logic together. I also have a KORG Microkontrol which I love using with both apps: Logic does a nice job at setting it up natively and for Live I run a custom script. My problem is that Logic takes over the mapping, so I lose the nice custom script control I have s...

You can use BOME's midi translator or Osculator to translate the incoming midi message to the keyboard shortcut.
