Re: Mic Boffins, help me understand this please

I'm not sure if you already know that nff is shorthand for 'No Fault Found' - possibly the most irritating three letter abbreviation (tla) that you'll come across when you're logging faults. A very quick question - do you have phantom power enabled on the Alesis for the mic channel you're using? Als...

The higher numbers accelerate the encoders even faster which is useful for 14-bit controllers (since in 14-bit mode there are many more values possible than 128, so the encoders are even slower than normal). Edit: Also the reason for the increase in values i.e. 96 192 384 768 is that if you turn the...

I was the 'masked man'! The BCR2000 is next to useless to me without the encoder accelerations. With them it's ace!! 8)

Gig Bag recommendations for Edirol PC-50?

Hello,

Do any of you know of / use a good lightweight, but padded gig bag for an Edirol PC-50 49-key controller keyboard?

Dimensions of Edirol PC 50:
Width = 883 mm = 34 13/16 inches
Depth = 184 mm = 7 1/4 inches
Height = 84 mm = 3 5/16 inches

Many thanks!

Does anyone know if there are there any facilities in Live 7 to filter out incoming MIDI data from being recorded (such as ignore aftertouch, pitch bend, etc.)?
Thanks,

This is normally caused as a result of the guitar amp being earthed on a different electrical circuit to the FOH mixer and therefore the mic. The thing is that there can still be a potential difference (i.e. Voltage) between the two different earths which results in the shock (or 'jumping the gap to...

Still no mac support, though! :cry: It's such a shame Audition has to be PC only as it's a really great audio editor (and so much more etc.)!

Denmark Street (nr. Covent Garden) is a good choice for guitar shops (and there's even a couple of vintage specialist shops too) but the only downside of actually staying in central London itself is that it's quite pricey! One of the nearest hotels to Denmark Street to my knowledge is: http://www.tr...

Yes - it is fantastic (and genuinely works) and totally transforms the BCR2000! It's a shame that they never developed BCEdit (to my knowledge at least) to be able to access this hidden acceleration function. Silly, really, as the encoders go way too slow without it. Have fun with your new accelerat...

Hello! (I found out about this a little while ago having had the same problem myself. I posted it back then, but here it is for you!) Here's a bluffers guide to how to make your BCR2000 rotary encoders accelerate when moved quickly! Step 1. Use Midi-Ox or equivalent to capture a sysex bulk dump of t...

Are you connecting via MIDI or via USB? I suspect MIDI from what you've said. It sounds like you are experiencing MIDI howl-round (feedback) which is slowing down the rate at which you can turn the encoders as a result of a mass flow of data to and from the BCR and computer. If possible, try it with...

Are you using Live 5.0.3? The only reason I ask is that there is a MIDI timestamp bug when using 5.0.3 with M-Audio hardware at the moment which Ableton support are aware of and working on. (Ableton have changed the MIDI timestamping behaviour in the latest version, but the M-Audio drivers currently...

Hi, I have just e-mailed support, but was curious to know if anyone else is unable to record MIDI notes from an external keyboard into Live 5.0.3. I use a Roland XP60 whose MIDI out is connected to an M-Audio Firewire 410 which, in turn, goes into my iMac G5. (I'm on OS X 10.4.3 and have the latest ...
