Excellent suggestion, moving the Max 5 folder from applications worked! The installer created a new folder (suspiciously named "Max 5"). It appears Max 5.1.1 comes in a Max 5 folder, where as max 5.1 comes in a Max 5.1 folder! M4L seems to be working fine now, at least with saving and load...

Scratch that, i'm apparently not even using 5.1.1!

I deleted my 5.1 folder just to be sure, and after running the 5.1.1 installer, i don't see any new application folders! (only my copy of 5.0)

The installer runs (apparently) without and error and exits correctly.

Any clues?

I too have this problem. Max crashes immediately when saving ANY patch, including with the default objects that a new live devices comes with. I was wondering this too. It's great when I want it but I find sometimes i grab the wrong cable when a lot are crossing in a small space.

You can accomplish that with simple send and receive objects. You can even reroute things dynamically by sending "set" commands to the send/recieve object. Wouldn't this require the midi instrument at the top of the channel to have a send object to match the receive in my effect? I was ho...
