Re: a lil help with warping 1 track anyone??
I'd suggest warp the original version to extract the proper tempo first, this will also give you an idea where to put the 1st marker as there is a bit of an intro there that's not going to be aligned to the tempo of the song. About to leave home for a bit but i'll have a crack at it in a little whil...

Re: W7 Ableton Live Lite / Abletone Live 8 Demo install issue
Live versions do not overwrite each other, they install side-by-side.
Your shortcuts are wrong.
Check C:\Program Files(x86)\ for the new Ableton Live 8 folder and make a shortcut to that .exe as well.
There is no need to uninstall Live 8 Demo, they can co-exist just fine.

Re: Pre-define the length of a clip using a MIDI controller
Ok that's a fair call. I seem to remember finding a Max4Live patch that someone created not long after the beta version came out that changed the colour of clips on-the-fly, so you could tell which ones had been launched and which ones hadn't. Maybe you could tweak that patch to suit your needs, tha...

Re: Komplete Users: pros & cons please...
Just to add to the warm fuzzy feeling going on here... I bought Komplete 6 late last year, just upgraded to Windows 7 about 4 weeks ago and blew away my whole hdd and re-installed Live 8.13 and NI Komplete from scratch. Ever since then my laptop has run better than it ever has. There has not been a ...

Re: Pre-define the length of a clip using a MIDI controller
I would have to say yes, it would be quite difficult. I only juts purchased M4L last week and am having trouble getting my brain around parts of it.
What did you think of the other suggestion though, grouping tracks with blank clips? Seems like it would do what you're after.

Re: Pre-define the length of a clip using a MIDI controller
Well I can think of 2 ways to get this done. 1 : (the HARD way) - Buy and learn Max4Live, you could make a custom Max patch that did this for you. 2 : (the EASY way) - Learn to utilise track GROUPS. You could make a MIDI track group that contains a track for each loop length you want (i.e. one for 8...

Re: Follow Arrangement arrow
The follow button will turn off when you do edits, that's normal.
Try using Ctrl-F (PC) or CMD-F (MAC) shortcut instead.

Re: audio syncing
By default Live "warps" most incoming audio clips. It will then play along with the project tempo. You can untick the warp button on each clip to have them play back as normal, but you lose the ability to loop and do other funky things. You need to learn to use the warp modes properly and ...

Yeah I watched that vid yesterday and it looks sweet as.
Love the fact he's using Live in the background too.
Some of the presets actually sound really usable too.
Great product from a complete legend![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: the right kind of soundcard?- using ableton in live setting?
Well that depends on whether you want Firewire or USB. As a general rule Firewire is more expensive that USB, so you might want to look at entry level USB interfaces. M-Audio have some cheap-ish stuff but the general consensus is the quality isn't so fantastic. See if you can pick up a second hand E...

Re: the right kind of soundcard?- using ableton in live setting?
jakus yes you do need a souncard, but it has to be multi-channel. There are some very good, cheap interfaces around that are only one stereo pair out, this will not work for sending a click track to a drummer. You can configure Live to send the click track (cue channel) on any set of outputs on a mu...

Re: external sound card turns off then ablenton freezes
Are you using this through a USB hub or direct to your computer? Try a new USB cable or discard the hub temporarily for testing purposes. Live will crash if the soundcard that is in use is disconnected, that's pretty much a no-brainer. Other software that scans the USB bus intermittently can cause t...

Re: live drumming with a click track
WhiskasFX you need a multi-channel soundcard to do this. You can set up the outputs in Live's preferences. For example Master goes to outputs 1/2 and Cue (click track) goes to out puts 3/4. On a desktop PC with onboard sound you can usually accomplish this using the surround channels. On a laptop yo...
