Help! OSX:how to uninstall Quattro beta driver?
I have emailed M-Audio about this, but nearly a week has passed without a reply, so I thought I might try my friends in the Live forum ... I am running OSX 10.2.4, Ti Powerbook 800 mHz, 1 gig ram, with a Quattro/Omni set-up. I downloaded a new beta driver (1.5.0f7) from the M-Audio website, and thou...

a not-irrelevant diversion from making music
To add my own two sheckels to the discussion, I recently bought an 800 mHz Ti Book G4 with 1 gig of ram, primarily to use Final Cut Pro (which is an incredible piece of software). My father has a Toshiba laptop, and whenever I have to sit down and look at that ugly monitor for a while, I can't wait ...

New beta driver for OS X for USB Quattro
This is over a month old, but it was news to me, so I thought I'd post it. Anyone notice performance improvements with it?

upping the anti
I'd pay $300 for Altivec, VSTi, Midi, and dual monitor support.
Actually, I would spring $600 for a competitive upgrade of SX if Live could slave to it in OSX. And that is mostly because of CPU drain and the need to run VST instruments.

Should I assume that you don't regard Reason's Malstrom as a full-featured soft synth?al3x wrote:I want to be able to make complex, airy, ethereal sounds. Is there a softsynth on OS X that works TODAY that'll do this, or am I screwed until Reaktor is out?

check out rumblence: http://www.u-he.com/ I just downloaded Rumblence:Zoyd, which says it is an Audio Unit. Live does not support A.U.s yet, so I am not sure how one gets it to sync up, since the website makes no mention of running in standalone mode nor whether or not it can run in Rewire slave mo...

CoreAudio is very new: not even Apple has managed to make it work the way it will in upcoming months. Ableton was one of the first audio companies to support OSX (and therefore, CoreAudio), so it is obviously going to take some time to get it right. Our great hope lies in a major performance boost u...

Thanks for the reply, but I have no OSX VST plug-ins yet (only in OS 9.1, running on my old system), so that wasn't causing my problem. I did assume that VST plug-ins would be a lot like having a lot of fonts and plug-ins installed and booting Photoshop (something I have more experience with), which...

what kind of latency do you get with the quattro in 10.2.4? 12 ms output latency 12 ms input latency + 14 ms = 38 ms I haven't experimented with latency settings at all, I should add. The default settings have worked fine for me and I tend to only delve into a subject when it starts interrupting my...

Live 2.0.2 + OS 10.2.4 = 12 hour recording session last night, lots of tracking, editing, etc., and no crashes or weird behaviour. Reason ran in slave mode smoothly. I am using M-Audio's Quattro + Omni, a Ti Powerbook 800 mHz with 1 gig ram. Apple's website says that 10.2.4 improves Firewire for aud...

young company with growing pains
I'm sure that Ableton realizes that the next time they ask us to ante up, that they better have it together first. Paying for the upgrade insures that they can hire the world-class audio programmers to improve the software. This is a cutting edge technology, and it is going to stutter a bit until it...
