Re: I perfected the kick drum sound, do I still need the lyrics?

I have a t-shirt that says "j'adore dubstep". Do you think it will make me more popular?

I perfected the kick drum sound, do I still need the lyrics?

Hi, I'm a long-time reader, first time poster. I've finally found that sweet spot on the kick drum sample I'm using and its such a meaningful sound that I thought maybe I don't need the lyrics anymore. Here are said lyrics: ====================================== The Genius of Capitalism Let the mark...

Re: Why did you choose a Mac/OSX?

Why did you choose the machine you did? my girlfriend (at the time) was an art director and her co-workers would laugh at me when i pulled my pc laptop out to show off my music projects. Maybe you should invest in a spine? I have one going spare; if I make an imprint of an Apple logo on it will you...

Re: Doing it all yourself?

Sorry. Not yet anyways.. Not even my closest friends has heard anything except a little pointer here and there.. I find it very inspiring to be the only one on the planet living inside my musical universe.. Its like having a gigantic secret that keeps getting bigger and bigger. I really hate gettin...

Doing it all yourself?

I want to know what other people's experiences are of creating music in almost complete isolation.

Re: New Genre - Drone Step

There are some good sounds but it needs more rhythmic variety beneath the lead and for the lead to be a little more musical. You should work some more on it, there is something here.

Re: At the risk of being controversial...

I understand and agree with all these points. Basically, I don't think there's enough explicit thought put into the creation of music in general, whether lyrical or not. Although a notably different field is film scoring - then you have an aim, something to complement. Similarly, one of the most ins...

Re: At the risk of being controversial...

looks like you just lost your ability to listen to music just for the enjoyment of the actual music. no, instead you listen to it and think "that's just for hip marketing to sell millions and then drop the artist again and all". so the only one who actually is too serious about all of it ...

Re: At the risk of being controversial...

Then there is a needless seriousness to all of it, also. Few seem to have a sense of humor about what they are doing. I couldn't agree more. I find reading endless posts about technicalities as dry as sandpapering my eyes. I want to know what people are writing their songs about and why! Anybody? I...

Re: At the risk of being controversial...

If I hadn't posted a link to my music I would be guilty of hypocrisy considering the thrust of my argument. I'm not too bothered whether anyone listens to my music, but I would much, much rather have discussions like this as opposed to what compressor I'm using. you should check out the newest BT al...

At the risk of being controversial...

Maybe it is just part of growing up, of maturing, but seriously, I am sick of music both amateur and professional. At the cantankerous age of 27 I find myself loathing 99.8% of the dross my ears are subjected to. I'm tired of technically perfect yet utterly meaningless electro; bland, clueless indie...
