Ahh. Sorry, I read your post as more aggressive. Yeah, I'm not expecting an Apogee or anything. I have an 1st gen Gina 24 from Echo that is just fine for my purposes. Something on par would be fine -- I have a laptop now, so I can't really use my old interface easily (the laptop is significantly fas...

If the built in audio interface is any good I'll definitely be up for it - what do you think? do you think you get more then you pay for? this is the biggest gimmick around right now, and the thread starter is certainly affiliated with native instruments. amen. Ummm...no. But I don't want to get le...

I'm looking forward to the review myself, but from what I've read on their site (and watched in their riduclous yet very informative video) ... are you being sarc / taking the piss? I watched that video and thought it was a joke,. I thought it was a bit ridiculous how they thought they could sell s...

"just make sure that the native resolution is good for you, because anything else than native res. will look like crap" ?? not sure what you mean there mate? I think he was referring to LCDs specifically. With flatscreen CRTs resolution is largely dependent on your video card. I used a Vi...

I'm looking forward to the review myself, but from what I've read on their site (and watched in their riduclous yet very informative video) it sounds pretty damn cool. OK, I started an explanation, then realized it's all on the NI site, so go there. Watch the video to get a good overview, then read ...

3rd quarter starts in november i believe. From WIKIpedia: "Such fiscal years are typically numbered using a calendar year and quarter thereof. A fiscal quarter is 3 months (1/4 of a year). For example, the United States government fiscal year for 2006 ("FY06", sometimes written "...

Q3

Supposedly 3rd quarter: April 1, 2006 – June 30, 2006. I bought Live 2 and got a free upgrade to Live3. There wasn't a huge change, like there was between 3 & 4 ( and 4 & 5 ) though. The upgrade price generally is quite worth it, though. I would imagine they would at least announce something...

If you already own Live, you might want to ask Ableton about getting the budle adjusted price on the Audiophile (not knocking EchoAudio, I still love my Gina24). My friend has a Novation X-station and he loves it. It's about $500 US, but it's a combo -- soundcard/midi keyboard controller/sliders/pad...

colors and psychology

My place looks like the bridge of the original Star Trek Enterprise mixed with Chinese flavoring -- that same blue in semi-gloss with gloss black on all the trim and window borders. I dig it. Red is supposed to stimulate creativity, though (blue supposedly calms you). There's no concrete science beh...

not an expert, but here's what I know so far...

I made some tracks for a friend's hip-hop project (I did the music, he did the MCing). He was taking it to a well regarded masterer -- sorry, don't know the name, but masters the tracks on all analog equipment (not that this is necessarily better, but just sayin' he's not "some guy" who ju...

download it.

You can download all the live packs of this site, as well as the program. I just use the PDF manual. No point in having the CD -- every update/fix requires that you download the entire program over again, not just a small patch.

A bundle might be a good idea, though.

AMD and Intel (and Apple)

Re: Memory on a USB flash drive... I've heard reports that this is a 'What the fuck are you thinking?!' moment to more technical minded people. Also, not to beat a dead horse even more, but the fact that Apple went over to Intel really concerns me. For years, I've been following how AMD has been so...

Alienware/MacBook + Australian pioneers

If anyone is still talking about the topic: Dump Alienware -- they are overpriced and don't offer anything that a far less expensive laptop doesn't offer. If you're set on getting a PC, I'd go with a Toshiba. I have their Tecra M4 Tablet, and I love it. BUT...now that Apple is providing FREE softwar...

Minimonstah

The Ohm Force/G-media Minimonstah - I've had 5 running at the same time (haven't tried more). It'll start sucking up the CPU if you raise the # of voices past 8 or so -- well, it deoends on the settings. It's a minimoog emulator that also allos each parameter to be assigned an LFO, ADSR envelope and...
