Do you have any other control surfaces activated in the prefs?
I had similar issues and discovered that another active control script was the problem.

I received a replacement unit and it is working fine now.

Looks like some units may have a faulty switch.
And I really hope that the other rubber pads surrounding the main pads are made to last long. Every time I press these I feel like my fingernail will go through the surface some day.

OK. My replacement model arrived today and the Button behaves normal and as expected (toggles) and stays inside after pushed to on. First one was simply broken after first use.

I would. It be worried if the push takes it from the GPU. But with my old MacBook I don't know if it will be useful.

I have no audio output with the Loop Shifter after I drag a loop from the browser in the Device and play some midinotes.
The loop audiowavefile is displayed and midi triggers some action in the loop shifter.
Anyone else?
