Re: how to fix the sound when you have too many compressors?

See, this is the kind of world we've created - MF's don't even know what a compressor is doing or why it's needed, but because everyone's running around creaming their jeans for compressors (why, who knows???) everyone thinks they just need to slap compressors on everything by default... Because hey...

Re: Why I prefer Pro Tools for mixing instead of Ableton Live

Yes, that^ is a great feature. I've always been baffled as to why it's not an official feature. Probably because it doesn't work correctly. I'm on 9.7.7 and for me the Plugin names don't show up in the slots when you add them. They're just blank with a power button. Doesn't matter if they are 3rd p...

Re: Any tips for some GOOD studio headphones?

After all these years the Sony's still translate awesome... No real need for anything beyond that IMO. Either the 7506's or the V6's... they are pretty similar but have different curves. I prefer the V6's but I can get down on the 7506's no problem.

Re: WHY ABLETON - IF SUPPORT SUCKS

I think a method of deregistering software from a named computer on the Ableton site would be handy. So on my Ableton account page it should say Angstroms License: Live 9 Suite Licensed Devices - Angstroms Desktop : Activated [Deactivate] Angstrom's Laptop : Activated [Deactivate] that might help m...

Pretty killer deal on the shop right now for Live 8 owners

If you own 8 and you upgrade to 9 right now, you get $40 bucks off ($159) and you get live 10 for free when it comes out.

Pretty smokin' deal! Just thought I'd pass on the word as I'm sure a lot of people wont even see it. Glad I waited on upgrading to 9 until now :D

Thanks for the heads-up. I voted with 3 votes, although I highly suspect this will be ignored and never come to fruition.

Re: I feel like I cant achieve a good mix like others

Mixing isn't about putting all the latest and greatest plugins on your tracks and tweaking them all night and day for the next week. Its about solving problems when they arise and doing whats right to get the job done. It's like putting together a really complicated puzzle. Sometimes you just don't ...

Re: Windows 8?

Have you by chance tried the driver directly from Realtek? http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=272&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true Kinda confusing website, but If you scroll down almost the bottom you will find the section for the ...

Re: Windows 8?

Sweet! Well, you aren't in the red and spiking like crazy anymore, so that's good. I'm not sure how mission critical it is to be running in the green. As long as you're out of the red, I would put it through the ringer a bit and test it out and see how it goes. Maybe load the biggest session you hav...

Re: Windows 8?

Another thing I'm noticing in your picture is this rsplll64.sys, I think that might be an issue as well. Usually the DPC spikes are more at regular intervals every few seconds. This looks like all kinds of things aren't jiving. I suspect you have more issues then just a bad wireless driver. I've nev...

Re: Windows 8?

Thats a network card driver giving you those insane spikes. Could be wifi or ethernet. Not sure if you're on a laptop or desktop, but you might want to go and download an older driver if there is one available from the motherboard vendor or manufacturer. Try a few of them out if there are several t...

Re: Windows 8?

if you're expecting the same feeling from 8... stop now. you will accept it, at best. I agree 100% No, I wish it were more of a black and white scenario... :D I know bloody well that once I had tried Windows 7, there was no way I could go back to XP. Heres a major issue im having with windows 8, it...
