Re: Artefacts in Operator bass

The decisive thing turned out to be a mixture of changing the attack / release and adjusting the phase. Works fine now. usually the case. I didn't think it was the "phase" that was adjusted strange since by default it's 0 and if you had adjusted it you would know that it could be the sour...

Re: Artefacts in Operator bass

either that or you haven't set your envelopes properly. What that means is while the sustain is still occurring you're causing the oscillator to start again which causes it to cross a zero-crossing which causes the click. Play with your ADSR and you might be able to get rid of it. Also check how man...

Re: Ozone 5 Mastering chain

Are you just slapping an Ozone 5 preset on your master bus? First off I don't really recommend this and make sure you check the final mix through a variety of sound systems. I think for what it does and at its price point it's near the top of the line. The thing is most people don't understand that ...

The faders wouldn't move while you shifted between tracks. The knobs are completely fine since they're endless rotating.

Re: Is the APC40 good for producing?

Personally I haven't really found it to be useful. I know that in includes faders but since they're not flying faders it's only useful if you're stuck with 8 tracks. It's only used for my when I'm playing live I never use it for producing.

Re: Getting instruments through Ableton with good sound

Live by itself does not colour audio coming in. The issue is definitely in the front end or the back end (monitors). What are you monitoring through?

Re: Looking to upgrade. Live 9 Suite or splurge on Komplete 9?

Wow. Thank you all for the insight. I may take your suggestions and start with suite and upgrade to Komplete later. Have a great day everyone I'm mainly interested in producing chill house and eventually EDM. Well I guess you've already made your decision. I was going to say if you're interested in...

haha you're right. I meant in the sense that friends have sent me money, kinda feels weird.
Haha you're far too polite. Don't worry about it. Money has been traded between friends for things far less than music.

Re: Sound Design

I agree with the advice from the above. After you know the ins and outs of whichever synthesizers you're trying to learn, the best way to improve "getting sounds in your head" is to look at presets that you like and see how they were patched. A great exercise that I'm doing right now is to...

Re: Playing Live shows with Live

There's a Cross-Fader built into live. Make 2 tracks and have 1/2 your songs on one and the other 1/2 on another. Have 1 set to A and the other set to B. NOw you'll be able to crossfade between them

I feel like a significant part of the Ableton community can't read music. Just an assumption/feeling that I get when I stroll through the forums.

Re: Suite 8 -> Live 9? Who is going down this route?

suite + M4l -> Live 9. I like to make my own sounds and I recently switched to a 128GB SSD. Therefore 40GB of sounds isn't something I really want. You record your own orchestral sample libraries? Nice! Meant more on the included instrument racks/presets :P Not a huge fan of the OIC samples anyways...

Re: Starting With FM Synthesis

nickstutorials.com is what I learned a lot from, but honestly reverse engineering patches that you like are the best way. Go through the presets that come with Live and find sounds that you like. Then you can see what the operator settings are and take those concepts into your own sound design. This...

Re: Ableton Live vs. Logic Pro 9....

About logic, I wonder if there will be a logic 10? I know the latest version of final cut is supposed to be the last, I wonder if logic will be the same way? That's a good question, I've been wondering about that too. It seems like Apple doesn't really care about Logic anymore and only wants to sel...
