Re: Will live 9 fix the midi timing?

Cheers natefrogg, any chance you could tell us what its like with live as master just sending out notes?

I expect its always going to be worse when slaving as all sequencers are because of the way they constantly have to try and stay in sync.

Re: Will live 9 fix the midi timing?

One terrible design decision in the ST was that the MIDI input shared the same interrupt handler as the querty keyboard so if you took over the MIDI input you also had to handle the keyboard input as well. That actually explains a lot, I've noticed Notator triggers random key presses when the midi ...

Re: Will live 9 fix the midi timing?

Jitter also gets worse the more data you pump out over MIDI, once it leaves the computer it's a 31Khz serial stream. It's physically impossible for any two note msgs to arrive at the same time using a serial connection even if they are quantized to play on the same beat. If you need it insanely tig...

Re: Will live 9 fix the midi timing?

PPQ is a measure of resolution not accuracy. What I mean is whatever PPQ your sequencer is operating at doesn't matter if it can't schedule the sending of the MIDI bytes with tight jitter free timing (which Live currently can't). PPQ is more an issue for decent representation of groove in MIDI, dela...

Will live 9 fix the midi timing?

It's a bit of a joke when I can measure 7-8ms jitter (that's jitter not latency) on a 16th note hihat pattern at 120 bpm in live 8.3. It's Live not the M4UXL I use for midi output as it works fine (3ms jitter) in Sonar. It's audibly sloppy. FWIW I measure 0-1 ms jitter on my Atari. I guess all coder...

D16 Silverline VSTs now 5 for the price of 1

D16 Have a group buy on their silverline range of plugins, it's currently at buy one get four free. It runs out on the 15th. http://www.d16.pl/groupbuy I feel kinda dirty posting  this but they're good plugins and it's an excellent deal - but basically you guessed it - I'm already in the group...

Re: Euclidean Sequencer M4L

Fixed the first note bug, it's actually a problem with MSP, the phasor~ doesn't start from zero when the transport starts. Subtracting a tiny amount from it sorts it without screwing the timing any more than m4l already suffers from. The updated version is on my website. http://registeringdomainname...

What was the pattern? I'll see if I can recreate that.

Euclidean Sequencer M4L

People kept hassling me for this on my blog after I posted a teaser a year ago so I thought I'd better pull my finger out and stick it up on the web. I made it donation-ware, I dunno if that offends anyone but I'm skint and I spent a load of time on it plus people seemed to want it so if you like it...

Re: Very simple numbering algorythm

You can reorder a coll using the sort command, not quite the same as filling an empty slot but might achieve the same ends, you could resort after every add so that no empty slots exist. Dunno if that helps.

Re: Handheld remote Live controllers

Haha, no not really. The PhD is in composition and creative process - I'm looking at audience participation in electronic music making, less tech more application of tech. Still need the tech though.

Re: Handheld remote Live controllers

Yeah I know you can do it with an iPod but I'm anti-apple, not everyone has their shiny toys or wants their restrictive dev environment. And I don't think it works with ten of them simultaneously. Mine has flashing lights, wood and a knob.

Handheld remote Live controllers

I made these wireless remote controllers using Max4Live, Arduinos, XBee and hours of wasted time that could have been better spent making tunes. Thought you might be interested.
