I haven't used Ableton since V9, so I can't remember if this is possible or not.

I was hoping to mimic a plug called Syncplay by Rastsound. Basically, six loop lanes, all warped to the same tempo, with a common play head/timeline. You then launch/sound off sections of the loop by playing the key ...

There actually is an app for that (easy Python scripting) https://remotify.io/ I've only tried the free version, but it was as easy as can be for a non programmer.

I'd first check out www.nativekontrol.com as Stray's scripts are great if you have a supported controller.

I found the 128 thing to be a real waste of time, due to them taking so much longer to load up.

What I typically do:
-- layout your song in arrangement
-- add automation and some fills (so your soon to be loops are more interesting and you don't have to work as hard live)
-- bounce all song elements into 7 distinct audio tracks (kick/snare, perc/cymbal, bass, leads, synths, fx, vocals = 1-7 ...

I think its a very feasible solution...With a rack mount server case!

Analog would be the one to use. It's not a very complex sound so you should be able to get pretty close.

That would be an awesome piece of gear. Until then you could just setup a second machine running live, or an instance of Traktor (link supported) and sample in sync that way)

I realize you are all talking Mac here, but perhaps the concepts and tweaks are similar.

More cores the better my friend! Live basically assigns each plug you open to a core, so if you can get a four or eight core it will handle more polyphony and plugin instances. That said, if I use track freeze/bounce to audio responsibly I can still get by with a 1st gen i3.

In short, yes, but it is done in a way that is not familiar to you yet.

Just tried on 9.7. Mine worked normally. Trigger played the sample through, gate played the sample only as long as I held a key.
