I haven't used Ableton since V9, so I can't remember if this is possible or not.

Re: Interacting with Live's API: M4L vs Control Surface Scripts
There actually is an app for that (easy Python scripting) https://remotify.io/ I've only tried the free version, but it was as easy as can be for a non programmer.
I'd first check out www.nativekontrol.com as Stray's scripts are great if you have a supported controller.

Re: One Drum Rack to Rule them all...
I found the 128 thing to be a real waste of time, due to them taking so much longer to load up.

Re: Live performance and setup
What I typically do:
-- layout your song in arrangement
-- add automation and some fills (so your soon to be loops are more interesting and you don't have to work as hard live)
-- bounce all song elements into 7 distinct audio tracks (kick/snare, perc/cymbal, bass, leads, synths, fx, vocals = 1-7 ...

Re: Michael Gray - The Weekend || How To: Lead Synth?
Analog would be the one to use. It's not a very complex sound so you should be able to get pretty close.
To get the pitch wobble: LFO modulating pitch -1 semitone at a rate of 1/8th note. I would also input a very small delay to the LFO's start (not a dub delay but a setting which tells the LFO to ...

Re: looper pedal with ableton link?
That would be an awesome piece of gear. Until then you could just setup a second machine running live, or an instance of Traktor (link supported) and sample in sync that way)

I realize you are all talking Mac here, but perhaps the concepts and tweaks are similar.

I've definitely had my share of crashes since V1.5. I would recommend performing these adjustments: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207355205-Optimising-your-PC-for-Audio-on-Windows-10

Re: CPU recommendation for Massive, Serum, Razor
More cores the better my friend! Live basically assigns each plug you open to a core, so if you can get a four or eight core it will handle more polyphony and plugin instances. That said, if I use track freeze/bounce to audio responsibly I can still get by with a 1st gen i3.

Anyone running Spark 2/SparkLE controller in 9.7?
I was thinking of picking one up, but I don't think Arturia have updated in in years. Is the spark controller/plugin combo working in 9.7?

In short, yes, but it is done in a way that is not familiar to you yet.

Just tried on 9.7. Mine worked normally. Trigger played the sample through, gate played the sample only as long as I held a key.
