hey zorton, what do you mean by "painting sounds"? i read online articles or magazines about mixing and mastering. i also have a book or two on mixing and using effects. and i try to do it myself - that's the best way to learn i guess. some magazines such as "sound on sound", &qu...

glad the show went well, and i'm happy to hear that you got a good crowd. i agree with you, regarding hk developing its culture & fine arts...i think there has always been people outside of the cultural/commercial radar that has been doing alternative stuff. it's just that nobody hears about it....

Good luck on your gig!

Just curious - how did you end up from New Zealand to Hong Kong? I never imagined that HK schools would be known for their fine arts programs....but I could be wrong.

Have a good weekend =)

hello hello! very happy to connect with more people in HK/Macau...from the bit of online research i've done in the past few weeks of live electronic music in hong kong (or electronic music there in general), the scene does seem a bit small. i'd love to be proven wrong. maybe i'm not looking hard eno...

Hey zorton, for sure, will give you a shout when i'm in HK. I'm not sure how else to find fellow Ableton users there - i've created a "hong kong electronic music" group in Facebook but so far only 1 person joined, and s/he is not from HK. let me know if you have questions about Live...

Hey!

I'm in Toronto right now but I will be moving to Hong Kong in June to live and work (hopefully in music). I had a post up for HK users a while ago but no reply...

Nice to meet you. What kind of music do you make?

Topic: Can I use an EMU PROTEUS as MIDi with Ableton Live?

you have to record your MIDI sequence onto a MIDI track, then select the MIDI output of that track to the Oxygen 8 MIDI out port so it will trigger the sounds of the Proteus. Also make sure that MIDI track is sending data out on the same MIDI channel as the channel set in the Proteus. Hope this helps

M-audio o2....the edges are a bit more rounded than the PCR-M1, and it's a bit lighter, and shorter. had no problems throwing it in my backpack for many road trips. cheaper than the PCR too.

oh....i may have missed the part of your msg about the dr-202 not being able to reassign midi note numbers for the pads....i have a feeling it can. it should be in the first few options in the MIDI menu of the machine...

Patch, The 8 slots on the Impulse are from C3 or C4 onwards, and only uses the white notes, so C, D, E, F, G, A, B. If you've programmed the 202 pads to any of the "black" keys, they won't trigger. i'm testing it out right now on an M-Audio o2 and i've got the keyboard transposed +1 octave...
