The market is saturated with solutions for this, Ableton wouldn't bring much to the party for the effort it would take. You might see if anyone has had any success with midi exporting to one of the music notation products on the market such as Sibelius. or, on the other hand, "this is somethin...

I'd love this too... I have to move all effects to a new audio track, route the output of the channel with the VST to the new audio track and then I can freeze. Boring though :/ I would love to have such "weak freeze" too!

...will it be a good idea? it's a Lacie Quadra connected via firewire800... just because my internal hdd was getting really really stuffed of stuff. (and since it's an iMac i can't have 2 separate drives for system / samples) am i going to cause any severe slow-down from this? i mostly use single-sh...
