I wanted to chime in that my newly received Edirol PCR-30 midi controller is the dog's bollocks for use with Live. Although, it's larger than my Oxygen 8, the build quality is so much better. It's unbelievable that they're almost the same price.

You could get a PCMCIA card with a 6 pin firewire port if that's absolutely necessary for you. Centrinos rock!

CPU Speed: 1.5ghz Centrino

Result for test 3: 1%
Result for test 4: 10%

so my total cost was

$150 for the 200 gb drive
$100 for the enclosure

$250 total. i think that's a pretty good price. shop around for some of the premade solutions and you'll probably see them costing at least $50 more. some are probably even over $100 more.
