Re: Ableton 10 is obsolet!

Right now you can search the internet for some Joe's private website and pick up a Rack or so, but the whole things screams for a library run by Ableton of M4L Live specific patches, Racks, and VSTi/AU parameter maps. Isn't that what the Ableton Packs page basically is? Or do you mean a library whi...

Re: How to Configure Max For Live to Ableton Live 9 Standard

I have Max for Live 7 and Ableton Live 9 Standard. Are you sure that you're talking about Max for Live and not Max/MSP? Because owning a license for Max/MSP does not entitle you to use Max for Live, both are separate products. Anyway, the normal way to set this up is to have both Live and Max/MSP i...

Re: Ableton 10 is obsolet!

Well, can say that I wasn't expecting Live 10 so soon, took me by surprise. But I have to agree with some of the critical comments. For me the update hardly holds as much impact as the upgrade from 8 to 9 had. Of course part of that was also fueled by the Orchestral Instrument Collection which sudde...

Re: Live and Max stuck when saving a device

Thanks Shelluser, but Live 9.7 seems to work reliably as long as I don't want to edti some M4L device... Bizarre, can't come up with a logical explanation. Do you also own a Max 7 license or only M4l? I'd try to see how Max 7 behaves stand alone, so simply start it, see if you can make a crude patc...

Re: M4L visibility off does not work

There is another option: using different patches and then load them into a bpatcher whenever you need a different interface. This does take some setting up of course. You need to name your bpatcher so that you can control it (scripting name; use the inspector) and then use a 'thispatcher' object to ...

Re: Midi clip got renamed. How can I find out it's original name

Dragged it where to? From a live pack (pack section) to.... ?

Normally dragging and dropping aren't destructive as far as I know, are you sure the original isn't available anymore?

Re: Best Ableton Keyboard Controller

I am new to Ableton and still trying to find my workflow with the DAW. I am looking for a keyboard controller than can really control Ableton parameters. I am trying to mimick the workflow of a keyboard workstation basically. "Best", as always, is in the eye of the beholder so to speak. I personall...

Re: Live and Max stuck when saving a device

Late response, but also on my end no issues. However, I can't help wonder if you had any issues when you first started Live 9.7? When I had just upgraded it I couldn't even start it because it would immediately crash. I ended up de-installing and re-installing Live 9 and that did the trick for me: n...

Re: ableton crashes on start up

Hm, glad to see I'm not alone here. Running Win7 32bit, I just updated to Live 9.7 and I'm experiencing the same problems. The very moment it starts it immediately crashes. Using VS2012's debugger option I get a little more info: "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in Ableton Live 9 Suite.exe [27...

Ableton Live & Quicktime?

Hi gang! First of all I have to admit that I haven't kept close track of all changes in Live 9, but as far as I know Ableton Live still depends on Quicktime to be installed. Just today did I read an article on an IT website (The Register) which states that Quicktime has more or less reached its EOL ...

Re: drum rack - return track - send

hello. We can create return tracks in drum rack. Every track possesses a send. It is grey. To what is it of use ? Hi there! Yeah, the feature to actually send something will become available as soon as you add an effect. I assume that you're referring to the small 's' icon in the lower left corner ...

Re: Your Top 3 M4L Devices?

Only my own stuff. Mostly my LOM.Navigator because it helps me to 'hack' the Live API. My M4lscope for obvious reasons (I prefer using it in combination with spectrum) and finally my recent RecClipColor to keep random clip colors into my session view grid.

Re: Best way to save songs/projects?

The 'best' way heavily depends, but the most common way is to use one folder per project (basically the folder itself represents the whole project). The reason for that is because this allows you to keep all your material separated. If you have several recordings which you no longer use then merely ...

Re: USB Hub?

The best advice I can give you with hubs is to get a powered one if you can. This allows you to basically plug in anything you'd like without ever putting the internal USB ports of your computer themselves at risk. Normally these ports are secured from power drains but an extra failsafe will never h...

Re: How to "upgrade" all Simplers in old drum rack at once?

I doubt there is such an option, but I'm also not too sure if there should be one. If you change the used engine then you'd always risk that your material will sound different. A small risk perhaps, but still something to keep in mind. Personally I wouldn't recommend a bulk upgrade like that, not wi...
