Re: Combine MIDI data from two controllers to a single stream?

Hi Matt, I'm not following, apologies - why can't you do this with multiple MIDI tracks? Just create a dedicated track for each input and route their output to the merging track - does that not work? I'm probably missing something obvious. Oh, I see ... it's not just a matter of MIDI input but of Li...

Re: Technical questions for m4l + Push experts

Sorry, it's totally not universal, and would be completely useless to the max-illiterate. Completely useless for anyone who isn't me, really.

Re: Technical questions for m4l + Push experts

So I think there are some minor translation issues but I'll do my best. If it sounds like I've misunderstood something, feel free to clarify - vous pouvez essayer en francais, aussi, mais mon francais est mauvais. Yes, you can permanently reassign buttons. I've permanently reassigned the "add e...

Re: Push feature requests

Right now, while looking at a drum rack, we have the option to move 16 notes at time (via the touch strip or octave buttons) or a single row at a time (via shift-touch strip or shift-octave buttons). I'd strongly prefer one of those 4 controls to move 12 notes/3 rows/1 octave (I'd prefer unmodified ...

Re: Poor PUSH

I think it's amazing, but I'm using a complicated setup heavy on max4live set control - which is what I bought it for. This is NOT a matter of it not being complete but of my Live set being super complicated. I think it's solid and well-constructed and thought-out, and I personally view the white L...

Re: Poor PUSH

Regarding pad sensitivity, I think there is a legit complaint in that aftertouch sensitivity can't be set independently of velocity sensitivity. I like a light velocity sensitivity, which means I'm sending high aftertouch on any sustained note. I worked around this with Max for Live (I like an after...

Re: Poor PUSH

FWIW, my Maschine controller is tucked under my couch and has not been plugged in since I got Push. I'm not saying Push is flat-out superior, but I don't really buy the "people who like Push haven't played with Maschine" thing. The 64 pads is making a big difference for me, both for playin...

Re: I just spilled a cup of coffee on my Push.

You're not doing it right. It's supposed to be more like, "I just spilled coffee on my Push WTF ABLETON why did you do this to me??!?! If you would LISTEN to your CUSTOMERS, this wouldn't happen!!" etc.

but, seriously, do the rice thing. it pulls moisture out of things.

Re: old live.objects/observers broken 9.05b1

Some further testing: the error is always present but not always identical. e.g. the live.object that should be assigned to the button_matrix and was identifying as the select_button was just saying "invalid syntax" after a quit and reopen. Saving the patch from within the new beta didn't ...

old live.objects/observers broken 9.05b1

If I open my existing max for live patches, existing live.objects and live.observers are not getting set properly by their associated live.path objects, and won't get reassigned. There's something corrupt about them, it seems. Like, my existing patch has a "path control_surfaces 0" --> liv...

Re: Push Knob Resolution (Feature Request)

They're saying when it's mapped to any remote parameter, the full range of that parameter is divided into 128 increments. There is no work around for that without rewriting the way Live handles remote mappings, which would be a ridiculously large-scale undertaking. BUT you could make it so that hold...

Re: open any clip in step sequencer or note mode without add-ons

Oh, I guess another issue is that your instrument is moved to another track, so you don't really have access to it and your note modes at the same time. I use external instruments so I wasn't really using Push for parameter control, but I suppose if you do that's another "con". You might b...

open any clip in step sequencer or note mode without add-ons

So I think I just figured out how to do something complicated. It's possible that people already knew this, of course, but my understanding of solutions presented previously is that they would let you "trick" Live into opening a non-step sequencer clip with a step sequencer, but not switch...
