Re: omisphere... i dont get the big deal.

You know, I see people on here consistently railing against Omnisphere for being a ROMpler, as if that's all it's good for. I think it's kind of a trendy thing to say, but it's inaccurate. Yes, it's a sample based Synth, but to call it a ROMpler implies that there's no flexibility to the patches, or...

Re: Perceived Sound Quality of popular soft-synths (discussion)

I have to stress how much turning up the master+snapshot volumes can improve the sound quality. I was playing around with this again last night, and it was amazing how much the sound expanded and opened up with the volume at 100%. Now, I don't mean to discount this point, as I believe that our ears...

Re: Perceived Sound Quality of popular soft-synths (discussion)

OP, I agree 100%. To me, it sounds incredibly phasey and no amount of tweaking has been able to get the top end to open up and sound right to me. I have demoed Alchemy really hoping to Love it and trying for hours to get a great sound out of it after reading all the positive reviews. However, it jus...

Re: Programming Bass lines for chilled breaks/Drum&Bass

That's probably because music is not meant to be formulaic. There is no right/wrong for that sound. Try outlining notes from the chord you are using. Try some jazz theory here-- 7th chords, 9th chords, 13ths, etc, will sound great through a pad, and give you a nice pallette of notes to make a b-line...

Re: Bassnectar like bass

I'm pretty sure he's still rocking reason. Try using the synths in there, and following the advice above. I'd be happy to give you more specifics, but my work comp. blocks web videos, so I can't see which bass sound in specific you're talking about

Re: Ableton sampler/EXS24 files

I have flirted with the idea of buying sampler on an off for years, and have tested it's ability to import exs and .nki files, since this is mainly why I'd buy it. From what I remember, it does a great job with .nki's and a pretty decent job with exs. Why not try importing an exs in the demo of samp...

Re: Juno synth in Röyksopp - Vision One.

I'm sorry but is anyone using my patch? I feel kinda stupid making the effort to make and share my rack, make a demo and upload everything and getting no response at all... :( It's just that this way, I won't have the same enthusiasm next time for sharing something. Just to let you know... I get an...

Re: Juno synth in Röyksopp - Vision One.

A Juno on it's own won't get that type of sound. It's defo some engineering trickery to get that tone. My guess is a regular sawtooth bass patch + saw with Ring mod/freq shifter & Boost & Highpassed. Both then grouped through a phaser. Or something like that

Re: Pitchy bass...

Is it possible that the pitch of your bass patch is assigned to velocity? were you playing with the pitch bend wheel on a midi controller while the clip was playing? If so, you may have unknowingly recorded some automation information that you need to erase. Can't think of any other reason why this ...

^ as said above, this guitar actually seems pretty good. At first glance, it looks like a bad Guitar Hero controller, but on further inspection, it's a fully functional MIDI guitar with NO LATENCY, and only costs $179. Total deal, IMO.

Re: Twisted Tools

Yeah, I've purchased Vortex, and it is amazing. And really, just replace the internal samples with your own, and the cliche-ness of the presets disappears. I'm waiting on Colorflex for now, but it looks promising as well. IMO, Vortex is WELL worth it... This comment makes me giggle considering that...
