Re: cumbia or otherwise interesting groove template files
files.me.com/corywaters/gsksil Here's 10 or so rex files... 7 are cumbia 3 are random latin that I happen to have on my laptop at the moment. While listening to some of the files I noticed that a lot of the groove and vibe from cumbia or almost any latin style seems to come from the negative space, ...

Re: cumbia or otherwise interesting groove template files
I still go to downtown San Jose once every couple months and buy old latin records for sampling purposes.
I use recycle to convert them to rex. If you want I'll upload some of the stuff (short 1 or 2 bar loops) later tonight.

I actually bought my TokTok off shaggie but I don't think this is the same unit.
I am getting a price right now from Costa Rica to Canada for the Machine Drum which is 7 pounds.
That should give me an idea of what shipping is to the states at least.

FS Elektron, Spectralis, Jomox, Vermona
Due to lack or time (work), motivation, etc. I am getting rid of my gear and turning my home studio into a home office. I am offering the stuff up here to the guys at the Ableton board before I head over to VSE. All the prices are good to very good. Shipping is a HUGE pain in the ass out of Costa Ri...

Re: Programming Dubstep drums at 70 BPM instead of 140
program a fairly lively 1 bar break at 140 with the snares on the 2 & 4. In the clip properties switch double the bpm from 140 to 280. Change to loop length to 2 bars. Instant half-step break with the snares on the 3. Or, do the same with a 70bpm loop and change it to 140. Whatever suits your st...

Re: jomox vs elektron?
The "machines" as the differnt synth types are called are not hardwired at all... it's up to you. I have the sfx-6 the one with the keyboard. But I have a uw mk1 for my md... and I have no desire to move to a mk2 at this point. 800 sounds real fair even for an mk1 IMO

Re: jomox vs elektron?
You could program some drum sounds on the mm with the fm machines and some envelopes (but it really is a pain in the ass compared to the md). Also, the mm is monophonic (unless in poly mode) so if you want to use the other five tracks for other sounds you can't for instance put a bd & a hh on th...

Re: OT: Internet dating sites.
Most of those dating sites are just pure bullshit. Down here in Costa Rica we have tons of a call centers, one of the industries they service is online dating sites. They pay people $5/hour to pretend they are members of the site. They send messages, have chats, send pictures, etc. The real shitty p...

Re: jomox vs elektron?
I have an Jomox 09 TokTok and an UW MKI IMO for simple drums the Jomox has more presence (I wouldn't say better, though I prefer it). But, the RAM machine on the MD is what really makes it an unique instrument (IMO). I rarely use anything on the MD except the RAM and ROM machines. On another note, I...
