Re: Ableton Live 12 Release
Speaking of the beta's.. They are probably expiring some day with the public serial activation, but do they continue to work if activated with a valid license? Just in case there's some teething issues with the release.

The best thing, no more "Live 12 should be discussed in Centercode"

Re: About Live 12 upgrade Pricing
8O that's not expected! Your L8 is still a L8 Suite so you're keeping access to all the Suite content for your L8 license, but your L10 Standard shouldn't provide access to Suite content. Or something went wrong down the road and you've been lucky! Perhaps the system got confused by such "upgr...

Re: About Live 12 upgrade Pricing
You will get to keep every old Suite feature like Sampler, even if you upgrade to Standard from Suite. I have previously upgraded from Suite 8 to Standard 10 and I kept M4L, Sampler etc.

Re: 256 threads ableton did not start
I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried to launch Live with such amount of threads.
You can limit the number of threads with Options.txt with adding a line like:
-MaxAudioThreads=32

Re: AMD Threadripper 2920X // Multi Cores Performance
Yeah, it's not ideal that we are getting these high performance parts and then the DAW is not using even half of the available power. But it is really about the long audio chains that comes with single tracks' plugin chain and when the audio is output to a bus that'll just build up the chain. And on...

Re: AMD Threadripper 2920X // Multi Cores Performance
Do you have SMT on, meaning you'd have 24 threads? I've had this exact same issue with Ryzen 5950x (16 core / 32 thread) on Win 10, but also on i9 13900k on Win 11. It all boils down to the fact that large number of threads, with relatively low clock speeds doesn't always translate to great DAW perf...

Re: Need help: Audio Cracking when playing midi and other audio
With Intel 13th gen processor and Windows 11, it seems any application that is currently on top (ie. web browser) will cause Live to start crackling like it's out of cpu or buffer. But launching Live "as administrator" does help with this. It's been reported by many people on Win11, any ap...

Re: Ableton vs Reaper @ mix down
For me the solution has been Audiogridder. If you are unfamiliar with it, it's a free application which basically is a lightweight VST plugin host. The general idea is the ability to run plugins realtime on other machines over network, distributing the CPU load. But you can run Audiogridder server o...

Re: Optimizing CPU peformance on Ryzen 5000 series (10+ cores)
Thanks for trying the MaxAudioThreads settings! I wouldn't try without SMT at this point, it seems more trouble than its worth. Allrighty then, it's a relief.. Live also craps out it's authorization at the point of switching SMT. :) What you said about the initial findings with the trace, about the...

Re: Optimizing CPU peformance on Ryzen 5000 series (10+ cores)
Before disabling SMT, try playing with the Options.txt's -MaxAudioThreads=32 and see if lowering it to 16, 8 helps out. Tested, 32 gives the best performance (it was the setting during the trace). 16 will increase the Live meter's reading from 55-60% to 70-80% prior to enabling the heavy plugins, a...

Re: Optimizing CPU peformance on Ryzen 5000 series (10+ cores)
You do need to control the cpu power states - min and max should be set to 100% and the cooling policy should be set to active. If that doesn't work from inside Windows, you might be able to control it in the bios. Something else you should check is to make sure the usb ports are not going to sleep...

Optimizing CPU peformance on Ryzen 5000 series (10+ cores)
Greetings fellow musicians! I'm a Live user since version 5. Over all these years, I've gotten very used to the workflow and to the way things are done in Live. I understand that the focus of the development is to make it the ultimate live performance tool, and for that it is perfect. But one thing ...

Re: Ryzen problems
No, it hasn't got any better. CPU meter in Live is hitting 100% while Windows task manager CPU loads say 40% and half of the processor cores are running at 0.9 - 1.5 GHz clockspeed. I'm even running at 4096 ASIO buffer size (M-audio drivers have such madness maximum), as I have tried to squeeze a li...
