Re: spooky voices
Spectral processing. Granular resythesis. Reverse reverbs. Maybe some frequency shifting and pitch shifting (2 very different things). I think the spectral processing and granular resynthesis will get you 90% there. I use GRM Tools and/or my Eventide mainly for this sorta stuff. Using a Kyma would b...

Re: Best minimalist mixer for Ableton live?
http://www.my-shirts.biz/Linux/tascam2424.jpg Another alternative is if any orphaned meter bridge sold on ebay could be tweaked to work with a rack mixer like the Roland m240r... hmmm. Reinventing the wheel? If you want the 24 tracks and the meter bridge w/o spending a shitload of money, get a used...

Yup, yet for some reason, so many people still do, supporting this violence. You live in a very safe world if you think making a contract is violent. Pain in the ass, yup. Shady due to the lawyers in shark skin clothing, sure. Deathrow Records may be different when dealing with contracts tho... Wou...

Bring us surround panning (especially for LIVE performance)
edit: And lack of 64-bit is not a deal breaker for me.

Re: Anyone else besides me stoked for the new "Slim" Phatty
I just picked up a Slim Phatty, it was either that or a xoxbox. The Moog filter won out in the end. Software has it's place, and can simulate/synthesize the sounds of the analog circuits up to a point. It's the extreme ends of the hardware that software cannot recreate. Aalto can do many things the ...

Re: Apple buys Ableton!!!
in 2D/3D pictures it's mostly PC workstations in most industries for 3D, as well as in 2D/3D compositing, wich is a consequent part of the 'creative' stuff you daily view on tv, web or cinema. Aplle is more on video Editing final cut, and Audio Protools. Print domain is about adobe running on booth...

Perhaps this is what you need?

I don't have one yet, but I believe this syncs to audio, not midi, which is much more solid.

Quadraphonic/Surround Sound?
Is there a way to do true Surround/Quad sound out of Live? Is the closest thing sending audio straight out? I'd love to be able to do some panning with a joystick in surround.

Re: Preserve reverb tails and delays after turning off effect?
If the effects are still there tailing off after you turn the effect off, I don't think that you would save any CPU cycles since it has to process somehow after you turned it off. Impossible, like the chicken before the egg. a max patch would need to constantly analyze the signal like an accurate bi...

Re: Should Ableton have support for linux??
If Ableton for some reason added Linux, I'd hate to be in tech support. Just getting all the audio and device drivers to work under Linux, if even possible, would be a nightmare. Is the graphics library that Ableton uses even available in Linux?

I think UPIC was one of the first to let you draw audio spectra.
You can see a face in the noise at the end of this video:

UPIC is no more, but here's some history on it and HighC (newer software based on upic).

Re: Buying my first synth help needed
anything by elektron is great, but could be too digital for some. I used to have an evolver and liked it a lot, only thing I really didn't like was the stepping on the encoders, but it's a fun box (I had the desktop one). Only reason I got rid of it is I went almost all modular. I would say try modu...
