That's a great piece of work! Thanks for your effort.
It works really well if you map the scenes to notes on your keyboard and then solo the track for whatever root note you want to play. Makes it quick to work out a key and develop some nice progressions :)

My favourite workaround is this: Record the automation in arrangement view (records absolute values for the recorded parameter), make it into a new automation lane and copy the same number of bars of automation as there are in the target clip. Back in clip view, highlight the clip and go the the app...
