Re: Moving from Macbook to iMac

Migration Assistant? OR start again fresh? Or...? My dilemma is that I have 2 years worth of bits and bobs collected either payed or free... .alps, samples and softsynths etc splatted all over my HD. I also have software that allows only 2 or 3 unlocks. I am not sure how that is affected with using...

Re: Adjusting track volume after recording volume automation

i used to use utility to automate volume but it only goes down to -35 ... i think that's right - i m not looking at abe so you are not getting the volume completely down to zero you can group any devices in you track and use the chain volume for automation, which will get the volume down to zero Co...

Adjusting track volume after recording volume automation

Pretty sure this is a stupid, basic question.

Also, sorry if it's been covered extensively.

If I record volume automation on a track and then later want to lower the overall track volume, what is the best way to do it without having to drag down all my automation?

Re: Where do I find these samples in my library?

not necessarily. look which version the magazine article is using, and get some content packs which might cover that time period I downloaded all those old packs this weekend. Never did locate the samples from that tutorial but at least I now have loads more stuff that I obviously didn't need cos I...

Re: Just purchased Ableton. Now....

i think it depends on how much you visit the forum.. ^This^ If I spent half the time making music that I spend reading the forum learning how to do things...I'd have loads of time to try doing the things that I learned how to do from reading the forum. Edit: Also depends how much time you spend pla...

Re: Where do I find these samples in my library?

maybe check for compatibility packs on the ableton downloads page could be samples from previous versions I had only ever downloaded the Live Packs under "Live 8 and Suite 8" (Session Drums Update, Sound Objects Lite, Live 7 Legacy). I assumed all the ones from previous versions on the Archives pag...

Where do I find these samples in my library?

This weekend I was going through some old Computer Music mags and messing with a tutorial called "Jamming with Live". One of the first steps in one tut. said, "Drag a four-bar drum loop into the first slot.......we're using the Drum19-HIP loop from the Ableton Live Library - it's in the Drums/Hip-Ho...

Re: Live 8 and its resources

I can't answer the question about the interface because I don't know, but I can say that I had that exact same MacBook Pro with Suite 8 and Komplete 6 and the only time I approached that kind of CPU usage was with multiple instances of Kontakt or Reaktor. So the 50% with 4 instances of a Reaktor syn...

Re: Upgrading to Suite

I have both and use the NI stuff way more. The Ableton stuff gets used enough to make it worth owning, but I definitely use Komplete a lot more. I bought Komplete first and then waited for a good deal (and money burning a hole in my paypal account) to upgrade to Suite. Now is probably the time to ta...

Re: Most listened to Album this year?

Either:

Versus - On the Ones and Threes

or:

Superchunk - Majesty Shredding

or maybe:

The Walkmen - Lisbon

could have been:

Holy Fuck - Latin

then again:

Zach Hill - Face Tat

Definitely one of those.

If not then it was for sure:

Mogwai- Special Moves or Polvo - In Prism

Where did these mda plugins come from?

Hey. I just got a new computer and I'm going through the long/annoying process of reinstalling all my software. So far I've installed: Live Peak LE6 Berna Gleetch Lab NI Audio Kontrol and Service Center Soundflower Vyzex MPK88-61 I'm now installing Automap 3 and when the plug-in manager popped up, I...

Re: Has anyone used an Akai MPK 88?

I have one. My only complaint is that the keys are kind of loud. It's not really a problem but it's annoying and you'll know what I mean when I play it. The main reason I chose it is cos I wanted an 88-key for piano stuff and the only reasonably priced options at the time were this one and the M-Aud...

Re: Confused b-wards compatible!

Ok, I am seeing threads about Live being backwards compatible and not being backwards compatible...I am still using 8.0.4 and its awesome I wanted to upgrade to 8.1.2, 8.2.x but I read that 8.1.2 and up, won't be able to open sets in previous versions 8.0.4 or older, that is stupid as hell if that ...
