i'm not begrudgingingly voting for O, i'm a supporter. and i don't consider myself cynical but, instead, realistic. no lefty candidate even floats the idea of doing many things that most lefties would get behind, consider well worth while. here's an example: gay marriage. fairly broad support for ga...

um, how so? you mean the market crashing? or the dancing in the streets, people spontaneously breaking into song? look, i'm voting for obama. but i'm not going to pretend life in the US is suddenly going to be so very different. in fact, little's likely to change. if you think the world's suddenly g...

you all keep missing my point -- i'm not saying that monome should maximize the bottom line or gouge the consumer. i'm saying that monome shouldn't be giving money to scalpers when there are many more deserving (as noted, give it back to the monome community somehow, use it to advance some enviro ca...

why is it a good deed to give money to scalpers? why is it a good deed to price things below what demand would justify? look at it this way -- they could sell monomes for more, and then offer a large number free to those who can't afford them but are deserving. it's not like they're cheap now. what ...

yeah, life's going to be completely different -- and so much better -- once obama wins. or things will carry on much as they did before.

doesn't this just mean monome is underpricing it's gear? (as i recall, they don't make you promise you'll never resell after buying.) put another way, monome has only itself to blame -- it's just giving money away to scalpers that might as well go to monome (they don't have to profit from the profit...

yes. set quantization to the length of loop you want. then doubleclick. the first click will start record, the second click will play the loop (and thus stop recording) after the quantization/loop length setting. doubleclicking works.

no, you don't have to watch the recording. all you have to do is set quant right, and then double-click (which will punch in on the quant, punch out on the next). don't get me wrong, i'd like to be able to set the audio loop length up front at times too (and be able to have tempo dictated by first l...

why's it illumintating? is there some reason we're supposed to think celebs/musicians/artists have a clue about politics? wouldn't you think they'd be a little more divorced from real world concerns than many others? taking your political cues from actors and such seems pretty obviously inane.

um, it doesn't make things atonal if you use the frequency that matches your song, right? (i use a ring mod all the time with guitar, but change frequency to match song, unless i'm looking for mayhem.)

late to the party, but an easier way to get the tape effect -- and tube in the process -- is a fulltone tubetabe echo running at 8 IPS, very nice and smeary, you can run clean out and delay separate for super subtle offset. though i agree that you can do this all with SW in the box, i find it easier...

for your acoustic/vox recording, just get one of those sony field recorders (PCM50 or whatever), record, then pull the files onto your computer via USB. works and sounds great (though you'll have to be able to perform well enough your takes are worth keeping).
