Re: Novation Launchpad Tour - Australia 2010

Damn. Did you have to make both Melbourne shows on Wednesdays? Hopefully some others in the future will work in with my schedule.

Re: Convert WAV to 320 MP3

I use the LAME encoder, but I do it inside my music player (foobar2000). LAME's really good for getting good quality mp3s with a low file size, due to its variable bit rate encoding.

Yeah, definitely a good way to go. Other people I know just don't take stuff out of their gig bag at all, so they know nothing will have gone walkabout.

Re: First Gig, some tips or trickst? :)

As someone who's gigged with guitars instead of laptops in the past, a great contingency plan is: bring backups! Power cables, aux cables, USB cables, all that small stuff that you might forget or break down.

It's handy to have a checklist of stuff to bring to gigs as well.

Re: Invalid Product ID?

The 'Invalid Product ID' error got fixed in the update to Live 8.1.1, read here:
A particular Live set could not be loaded and would lead to a 'Invalid Product ID Error' message. [6165]

Re: Would you be interested In

What is the buffer set at in Lives Preferences? I do not know? Could you help me out with that? Your buffer can be found in Live by going to Preferences, going to the Audio tab, and looking in the Latency section. If your buffer is too low, it can distort your sound and would be a partial cause to ...

Re: Hi not new, but forgot how to hear browser in headphones,

I have a slightly separate issue: I'm using a set of USB headphones which use a different sound output to my normal laptop speakers - if I want the Live output to go through the headphones I have to change that through Preferences. Is there any way I can have the master output go through my laptop s...

Re: How to install updates on to top of old version.

The install folder (which has Live program files) is completely different to your Library (which has all your project files, loops, samples etc). You can uninstall the older version of Live (as long as you haven't got your Library inside the Live install folder) without affecting all your work. Just...

Re: The best 100 songs of 2009

I kinda stay away from Pitchfork stuff now for the most part, but I usually scan through their lists to see if there's anything which grabs my attention. That said, I'm a sucker for end-of-year lists and usually canvas my friends for album recommendations around December.

Re: music theory for techno!

If you're stuck with choosing what notes to use in a bassline and you have no idea about chords or scales, just use C Major (no sharps or flats). That way you won't get any dissonant sounding notes that sound out of place.

Of course, feel free to transpose up or down as you please.

I just finetune the tempo (press up or down with the tempo selected) until a bar (or multiple bars) are the same as the length of the loop.

This sounds really cool! Is there one happening in January? I'd like to come along and spectate, could give me a lot of ideas and seems like an amazing networking tool.

Re: Where has my device selection gone? in arrangement view...

Maybe try extending the physical size of the track? More selectors should appear when there's more space there, as with the 3x Chords track. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about, put your mouse on the border between the two tracks until the cursor turns into two vertical arrows, then drag down.
