Re: Consolidate issue
The hats and hi end sound slushy and not as clear as the original AIFF, as if atefacts have been added in or something. Maybe phased is the wrong term. When I listen to the original it is clear but the consolidate has lost some clarity. I read that HiQ mode on clips should be used when warping etc (...

Re: Consolidate issue
If I'm NOT warping and I want to maintain the original sound quality, should I consolidate with HiQ clip mode switched off???

Re: Consolidate issue
I didn't warp but the clips were in HiQ mode if that makes a difference?
Turns out the master was 16bit and the my default in Live was set to 24 so I have now set that to 16 and will try again.
Thanks for your help!

Consolidate issue
Hi, I have a 80MB AIFF file which was a master I got back from a mastering house. However the tail of the track was cut off but luckily I have a previous version they sent me that was ok. I dropped the two files in Live and attached the missing tail (30 seconds worth) to the new master (7:30). Cmd J...

XONE K2 'Clip Slot' MIDI Assignment and Launch - Question
Hi, When using the Akai APC40 you can see a border on your computer screen around the currently selected 40 (8x5) clip slots and you can also scroll around the scene view and select another 40 clip slots. Is it possible to do this with the Xone K2? It has 16 (4x4) buttons but is it a supported contr...

Re: Best MIDI Controller on market for 'DJing' with Ableton Live
Thanks for all the responses. Yes, I have an 25SL MKII but not enough of a 'launch pad' on it and the 25 honking keys get in the way! The Xone K2 looks really good for a small option and it has it's own sound card too with 4 outputs; headphone L + R and master L & R, so I guess you wouldn't need an ...

Best MIDI Controller on market for 'DJing' with Ableton Live
I'm looking for the best MIDI controller on the market today that will be best suited to DJing with Ableton Live with at least a 4-'deck' (4-tracks) set-up. Doesn't have to be flash but at least: assignable low cut filters for each channel, vol faders, a couple of sends, assignable buttons to switch...

Thanks Tim
I read Khazul's post again and it makes more sense this time except for the second para which I don't fully understand. But thanks Khazul.

Re: Boosting above 0db using digital EQs i.e. EQ8 in Live
Timothy Allan said it in his Groove3 videos and so did Olav Basoski in his MacProVideo videos.
I read it somewhere else too, something about 'phase shift'.

Re: -18db digital = 0db analog
It was actually Steve Mac (Masters At Work?) who said it on Twitter. He's been in the biz for over 20 years and has moved from analogue to digital so one would assume he has the experience to know what he is talking about! MJ Cole (UK Garage / funky house producer) also joined in. @mrstevemac Also a...

Re: Boosting above 0db using digital EQs i.e. EQ8 in Live
Thanks for the EQ cut/boost and gain staging responses but nobody has actually answered the question... If you load an EQ8 in Live or a Channel EQ in Logic, they both flatline at 0db, but I am assuming this is inside the device of the EQ so is reletive to the signal coming in then out. Example; If t...

Boosting above 0db using digital EQs i.e. EQ8 in Live
I've heard that you shouldn't really boost using digital EQs but you should instead cut the frequencies that you don't need and then raise the gain to bring the volume back up. However, is this really an issue if your track's volume is only at for example -18db. If you boost by +3db at 100Hz say, su...

Universal Audio (AU) Plug-ins
May be a silly question but do you need to buy the UAD-2 Solo, Duo or Quad to use UA plug-ins?
What if you are always on the move and you don't want a big dongle plugged into your Mac?
Is there a way of using them directly from the Mac's HD as software only?
