Without knowing your budget, it's really hard to make a recommendation. There's a lot of ground between a Monotron and a Buchla.
If you are willing to get your hands dirty, you can *build* your own modular. Check out musicfromouterspace.com, and see my sig for a couple of project logs.

I lived in Austin for 45 years -- just moved to Rhode Island this summer. Let me know if you end up heading there, I will be glad to rant about things you must see/do/eat.

Re: SQL Question...
re: SP My dislike about SQL Server in particular is that everyone seems to want crazy-complicated T-SQL scripts for stuff that should really be done with a scripting language making DB calls instead. I don't know why this is more prevalent in SQL Server environments than others, but that's my anecdo...

Especialy handy if you work with a framework that doesnt generate the schema for you While we're talking religion, I recommend the OP generate his own schemas until he finally reaches the point where he says "If I have to generate another schema I'll shoot someone." If you can't do it man...

Yeah, as I mentioned in my post, if you're in financial, you're pretty much Oracle. I don't hate Oracle, it's just overkill most of the time. If you know it's a 100% Microsoft workplace, SQL Server can make great sense. Hell, *Access* makes great sense in a lot of those situations :) @H2 I spent one...

Re: SQL Question...
trouble is with mysql is that not many people use it in industrial strength applications You mean, like Facebook? The Fortune 50 (not 500, 50) that I work for is almost exclusively a MySQL shop. Unless you *know* that the company you work at (or want to work at) is an Oracle shop (financial service...

I've since replaced the small iRoast roaster with a much larger Behmor 1600 that allows me to roast almost a pound at a time.

Oh Cygwin, how I hate thee. :) I was really happy when the whole "VM" thing took off, so I could easily have a proper Linux box in my Windows environment. Just to finish up a thought for the OP: Using mysqldump is a fantastic way to learn a lot about how to correctly model a database. If y...

The best way to learn it is to get VMWare, or Parallels, or whatever virtual machine environment you want. Download a turnkey LAMP image (http://www.turnkeylinux.org/lampstack). Boot that puppy up and start playing. This way, you're using SQL in the context you're most likely to IRL -- in an Apache ...

I think that, were it in there, it would have been shouted from the rooftops by now.
So yes, sadly, it's probably wishful thinking.

Re: Need expert advice on audio interface.....
I recently got the HS80s when my old Tannoys finally blew up. These things sound fantastic, and have no need at all for the subwoofer (at least in my room). I can make the whole house resonate with my Little Phatty... The monitors are the ultimate interface between the machine and the listener. If y...

Re: analogue synth purchase help!
With your budget, I'd grab an Analog Four as well. You can stack tracks until they release polyphony. If you must have poly, look at the Mopho x4.
